Once I have the access to the internet working I will be getting several dozen books forwarded into our library.
Just wondering what your relationship is like with them and whether they accept their Dad's new marriage.
He has a daughter, 31. She calls me mom. One Grandson. He is a darling. They want us to fly up for Easter, so we probably will. They are going to visit us as often as possible. I am officially a "nice step mother and grandmother".
I doubt it would have worked out as well if LL's first wife had not died years ago, and if he had not been so visibly unhappy being alone.

Bone up on sous vide cooking if you haven't already done so (Keller's book is really good, but plenty of sources on the web too). The first time I sous-vide an egg properly was pretty memorable! Get a vacuum chamber sealer and an immersion circulator to add to the collection of gadets you have on board

and your point is?We have a huge library of books and movies and music. All on hard drives. The main circuit breaker is turned off most of the time while they work. So no books, movies etc. So far I do not have that many kitchen gadgets. High maintenance women usually look fantastic (and know it), are a challenge (not everyone likes a conversational pushover), and are frequently 'girly girls' who need attention and protection, which makes us guys feel all manly and stuff.
Some of us find the tradeoffs worth it

If you don't have many cooking gadgets, the FIRST geeky thing you should get is a proper thermometer. Get a Thermoworks Superfast Thermopen and use it all the time when you're learning. That'll make sure you objectively get your food to the right temperature, which means it won't be over or undercooked. I wish I had one when I was learning, it would have sped up the learning curve quite a bit. Esp when cooking meats.

The secret in getting a man to enjoying shopping is to randomly pull him into the change room. If it is too small to pull him in, pull an arm in and use his hand to make him know he is wanted. Neither works well with saloon doors.

I was going to ask how an executive can live on a boat but you answered my question. Very nice. I don't think you 'drive' a boat though - ask Lord Loki if it's 'sail' or 'steer', etc.We live on a boat, and are seldom going to be at the same anchorage for more than a few days. I am learning to be a great cook, I even have my own kitchen. My garden will be a couple of pots just like in Mutiny on the Bounty. For now I have more to learn than I ever imagined was involved in driving a boat. After that I am going to join a distance learning program

For my birthday a client (ok LL :eyebrows: ) took me to a mall in Toronto (Square one) and told me to pick out anything I wanted. That was the most fun feeling I had ever had. Also difficult to pick. I did try on boots though. :thumb:What, me grouchy? To hell with that, I say let's go shopping.
