Does anyone bother with TERB profile "friends"?

A few years ago, when TERB switched to its new look, I recall there was a lot of discussion about people signing up friends on their profile pages. Some were really into it, others not so much or not at all.

In my old account, moviefan (which I accidentally locked myself out of when I changed e-mail addresses), I had one friend -- Scarlett, of The Office and Mirage fame, who I'm pretty sure is now retired. No one else was signed up, but I had only tried to sign up one other person.

In my new account, moviefan-2, I don't have any friends.

I get the sense this isn't something anyone would care about any more. Why would it matter who is listed as your friend? I could be wrong, though.

Any thoughts?

I have two friends :D one girl on here (I won't say who) even went through all the trouble of friend requesting me *BIG SMILE*

(Although, I'll admit. I friend requested the other girl, not the other way around...)

Strictly from a functional POV, it's a mouse-friendly way of looking up a certain person's recent activity and posts.

You realize we can click on your profile and see your 2 friends, right? We got a 50/50 chance of guessing which friend requested you.

I have 2 friends, I have no idea the benefit of friend requesting someone. I don't really look at my own profile.. is there any benefit? I can't figure it out.

Sometimes people have a setting where you cannot PM them unless you are on the friend contact list on Terb.
Interesting. I wonder if those people are just being selective, or are they worried about hostile PMs?

I put that setting on once when I knew I wouldn't be able to log on to terb for a long time - I don't like how I can't reply to PMs unless I am logged in and figured it was better to prevent people from contacting me versus letting messages sit in my inbox unanswered :)
That's very considerate. This must be a power that most of us don't know about, given the number of "clear your Inbox" threads I have seen. :D
