Spot on.That's is exactly why Williard cannot connect with anyone.I'd be curious how much money he's actually spent trying to convince people to like him?

It is kind of ironic that he spends oodles of money trying to get over the problem that he is rich.

Catch 22. He really doesn't have much choice. Takes alot of money to convince people you're just folks, when you're not.

Maher is usually right in his satirical messages. Romney is so out of touch with reality with America today that you just have to laugh at him, but then again he is the best that the Republicans have and that's a really sad statement for that party. I don't recall any presidential race where one party is such a joke with all types of clowns running for the party leadership, heck even Bush was less of a clown, if that's even possible.

Capitalism is good but not if you're a venture capitalist?

Maher is a millionaire and makes his money by making people laugh. If he's not doing so already, Maher should ask Romney about advice on investing, so he can become even richer.

I get around.

The big money and policy-makers behind the republican party want a patsy, a figurehead that they can control; someone with more poitical ambition than brains and vision.
Grover Norquist cycnically spilled the beans at CPAC:
Norquist: Romney Will Do As Told
Grover Norquist said:
Pick a Republican with enough working digits to handle a pen to become president of the United States. This is a change for Republicans: the House and Senate doing the work with the president signing bills. His job is to be captain of the team, to sign the legislation that has already been prepared.
...

All we have to do is replace Obama. … We are not auditioning for fearless leader. We don’t need a president to tell us in what direction to go. We know what direction to go. We want the Ryan budget. … We just need a president to sign this stuff. We don’t need someone to think it up or design it.

When's the last time a "Poor" man ran for the highest office? And would the Americans want an "average Joe" running their country? I betcha Bill makes more than 26,000 an episode and doesn't give a shit about what's status quo in his trouble country.

It's a matter of degree, though.

Obama makes 2-3 M / yr. That's "rich", but not "super-rich." He can still relate to the "average joe." In fact, he shows up every once in awhile at fast food restaurants, Best Buy, and other stores. Michelle Obama has been spotted at Target.

Romney makes > $40M. That puts him into a different atmosphere, and richer than others who have run for Pres.

I think it is even simpler: Obama can relate to people, Romney cannot.

I dunno, didn't Romney once say that corporations are people too? I'd say he has no problem relating to his favorite kind of 'people'.

Maher nailed it. Romney's USP as a candidate is that he's got ”the secret” to relaunching prosperity and nothing else.
