All the tea in China is an expression with British origins. Before the 1700s the brits drank pretty much cat nip for tea. When they started to trade with China and got some proper tea, they could not go back to the miserable stuff they had been drinking. The tea and spice trade between Britain and China almost bankrupted the country because they were shipping so much gold and silver out to make their overseas purchases. All the tea in China means enormous wealth.
