I typically get Veuve Clicquot for special occasions as I am a softie for the story of Widow Clicquot.

Anyone know what is premium Champagne which may not be the most well known or advertised.

(Just like Patron is not the best the tequila but might be more popular or well known as it is promoted than other tequila brands.)

Happy Valentines Day!

Here
Try Krug... several quality levels to choose from. And if you have really deep pockets, try Cristal.

Besserat de Bellefon Cuvée des Moines Brut Rosé Champagne AC France - Champagne, Sparkling Wine

At the LCBO - 60 bucks.
It's as a guy I know once told me "It's a real pussy opener"
Even reading the name of the champagne made me wet.

or

The LCBO only gets this from time to time but if you like a Rosé, this one is fantastic.

I'll probably spell it wrong but my preference is Veuve Cluquot. It runs about $70.00 these days at the LCBO. Both the white and the pink are quite good bang for the buck.

Don'cha love how we go in circles? James Bond always mentioned Bollinger, and Mumms Cordon Rouge was highly regarded before the Widow surged to the fore. Given that champagne production methods are so tightly controlled and that blending and mixing have been part of it's production forever, unless you're lashing out for big-bucks premium labels or vintage years it's much more a matter of fashion and your taste-buds, than variations in the wine itself and mostly the former. Champagne itself was once a kind of wine soda-pop and Churchill quaffed it from a mug, after stirring a bit to kill some of the fizz. Consider your audience and go for what the party will get the most fun from, be it story, price, novelty or whatever combo of the above.

And remember that just an inch across an invisible line on the ground the same wine, made the same way from the same grapes by Mme. Cliquot herself would not be champagne, no matter how much it tasted like drinking stars. Which opens the field for a wealth of 'sensible' choices when that's your mood.

Exactly!

And along those lines, Spanish Cava is a good option if you like the fizzy stuff!
I often choose a nice Prosecco as well, there are a lot of options out there and I love a nice sparkling wine whether it be from Champagne or another region.
