How many of you GAVE UP on dating figuring your just too undesirable to women?

Californication and Hung portray it quite a bit. Not that it would help a 45yo to hit on a 25yo in real life.Well there is good reason why most of us older men do not want to persue an interest in younger women. Now you are on this site & clearly you see older guys are attracted to younger women. REASON: vast majority of younger women will see a guy in his forties showing interest as, gross , creepy & perverted. Also society shuns it. Not so now with older women in their 40's hitting up younger men. They are cougars, in their sexual prime. Considered & portrayed in the media as hot . refer to Cougar Town & Desparate Housewives. I see no positive media portrayal of the 40's something guy persuing 20's something girl. Also the younder guy going for an older woman is considered just a stud. Younger girl interested in older man is always portrayed as girl fleecing the guy. P.S. Younger girls are not interested in older ugly, short or short & ugly guys regardless of the guys age. I was told to go for older women, they are not so into looks. I have gathered for me that means they are past menopause & old enough to be losing their sight !
You are so right. We get so many dirty looks. I have started saying " HI I am CA, the gold digger. This is my hubby Loki the perv". People look so shocked.
Unless you plan to live in a cave away from civilization, it does matter, but it's how you handle the fallout/reaction that governs things. We are pack animals that generally likes the company of others and the benefits of same. Learn early in life you can't like by everyone and don't sweet the small stuff or worry about thing you can't control then life will be much better.

Considering you have trouble comfortably talking to women, young or not, without giving them negative vibes, have you actually talked to a number of young girls about this exact topic? Somehow I doubt it.
seems to me often people are blind or oblivious to the numbers that bear out some truths. Human preferences are often reflected in the percentages. Marketing decisions & predictions are derived from the percentages. So too these factors: What % of couples are were the man is shorter than the woman. What % of men over/under 5'9 are in steady relationships. What percentile group has had the most # of partners ...... etc. These are looked into even from country to country to analyse differences & then study to explain them.

Something like 30% of small business fail within 5 years. 50% of marriages/common-law relationships fail. Does this mean you shouldn't start a small business or get married? No.

Seem to me that some people can't/won't see the obvious. When the average women is 4" shorter than the average man, women will date, marry, or fuck taller men. If your shorter than average and it bothers you, then you have to work on something else to tilt the odds in your favour. A pleasant, positive, or entertaining personality is a good bet as it can last longer than your looks or physical prowess. PM, you're just thinking way too much and trying to make excuses. If the the factors you're trying bring forth here were that critical SOMEONE would have studied them and reported back. If they did, chanced are you would have found them by now.
I'll offer my opinion here. I'm a married man, so asking women out is really frowned upon where I live. However, that does not stop me from chatting with women whenever and where ever I want. It's just talking. The more you do it, the better you'll be. You don't need to ask for permission. You don't need the odds stacked in your favour. You don't need to win. It's just talking.
I scanned through some of these pages and I suggest you follow the advice from DigitallyYours. His approach is one of just normal confidence and normal self-esteem. It sounds like he's funny, respectful, engaging. That's all you need to do. Then, stay out of the friend zone and go on a date. Make a directive statement: Let's go for (dinner, lunch, walk, drink) and pick a time and date. That's better than, "Do you want to go out with me?" Then accept her response politely. Really, you don't want to go out with her if she doesn't want to go out with you. Rinse, repeat.
Confidence trumps just about anything. It's that simple.

I know how you feel, and the odds are not in your favour, but if you want a date, you have to keep asking out women. Yes, all else being equal you will face a much higher rejection rate than a 6' tall guy and be given fewer breaks, but if you don't try, you'll never get a date.

I bet I know lots of guys who have these traits that you still wouldn't be interested in. You really still need to throw in physical chemistry, although that can be defined in some many different ways and isn't limited to certain body shapes and sizes.

Also, thanks for confirming what I already know. Girls want compliments on things they are not usually complimented on. Good looking girls want compliments on their personality. Girls with great personality but lesser looks want to be complimented on their looks.
+1 Huge turn off to act like a pig only interested in sex. Even bigger turn off if he has the "short man" syndromes. Napoleon pushy rude compensation or the 'poor me if I was only taller'. I will walk out in the middle of dinner if either one surfaces.
