Boston Bruin goalie Tim Thomas skips the White House visit due to his political and ideological differences with the Obama administration. He must be one of those American dummies we're always referring to or just a plain racist.

It's his personal choice. He isn't the only one to have done this btw. A member of the '85 Bears didn't join his former teammates at a White House visit late last year.

Was he a redneck like Tim? Whatever happened to the fun and pride of the game for the young fans watching their idol goalie visiting the President. The most powerful figure in the world.

I would say he is one of those American dummies mixing sports with politics.

We already have enough dummies mixing politics with religion in this world.

I know of 2 '85 Bears who didn't attend. Payton and Duerson.
It wouldn't surprise me if William Perry wasn't able to attend.

Dan Hampton also didn't go, because his family wasn't invited, boo fuckin' who.

It's a silly tradition to have sports teams visit the White House. What would have happened had the Canucks won last year?

Now, a group like the Navy Seals that took out bin Laden deserve a visit with the Commander-in-Chief, but professional athletes? Puh-leeze.

If a player who's a Democrat would have pulled that same boneheaded stunt 3+ years ago, the Republican pundits would have been all over him & dubbed the player as being un-American & demanded that he be expelled from the United States & sent to Guantanamo.

The Toronto Blue Jays went in '92 and '93.

Unless you have in-depth knowledge of why Thomas choose not to attend, how can you assume it is due to race?
He may not agree with any one of a hundred different positions Obama has.

Perhaps politics are a real sensitive issue for Thomas and he would skip a meeting with a white republican President for any one of a dozen reasons.

My guess is he probably does not think too highly of anyone who makes an assumption about his motivations without knowing all the facts.

I also would guess you have no idea what it would like to be famous and try to be true to your convictions at the same time.

He has every right to believe what he wants, and to his credit he blamed the republican party too, suggesting he would not have attended if they had been in power, however he took a team honour and cast the spotlight away from his teammates and put it all on himself. Suck up your issues and go as a member of the team.

Thomas had been known as the antithesis of the "selfish athlete" but this decision was announcement of his arrival as a player who puts himself above the team. This will remain a part of his now diminished legacy.

I don't know why David Hodges did this but he allegedly said that the first name of all 3 of Tim's sons start with "K".

Then, was is the purpose of having White house visits hosted by the President to championship teams if every player brings their beliefs and personal issues to work?

LMAO...it is unfortunate that racisim still exists in this world. Maybe Tim is taking roids supplied the KKK.

Wow two ridiculous statements with so few words.

Most players would be thrilled to go the white house
Thomas is not for reasons which he prefers to keep private
Knowing that some damn fool might public ally speculate it is due to race, I guess is the cost to Thomas for being famous and successful.

your assumption of the individual based on his views i'd say is dumb...TT has every right to do what he wants unless he's breaking the law. We're in the 20th century. His head would've rolled if he was summoned by the King during medieval times (but we wouldn't want to live that age now do we?) Accusing him of being racist, why? because the current president is black? Obama is as white as every member of his party, well...at least based on how he runs his gov't anyways...
