I have a small camera that uses two AAA batteries. I have been using 2 Duracell rechargeables but the batteries are drained after about 20 pics. Are there better batteries with a longer life?

buy a better camera that has a proprietary battery....cheap cameras will always eat cheap / mid range batteries.

You could invest in a set of rechargeables...get 3 x the number of rechargeable batteries ...but in the end your money is better spent on moving up to a better camera.

Once you do that go online and order a 2nd battery. I got one at drbattery.ca for my Olympus Pen 4/3rd for $10. As I was also ordering a battery for my netbook the shipping cost was peanuts and they both arrived the next day.

The only thing I find with proprietary batteries is that not everyplace has them, only specialty places. If you camera battery craps out on holiday, at the cottage, the museum, or St Louis de Haha PQ, how do you replace it?

For cameras Lithium batteries have better life. Rechargeable should last you longer than 20 pictures. Does your flash go off all the time? If so just use it when needed. How old are the batteries? Do they need to be replaced? One SLR I have has four AA's and another has 6AAs. I certainly get ore than 20 pictures form a set, more in the range of 200.

Batteries have ampere hour ratings sometimes listed as mAh

Cheap rechargeables will have a low mAh, look for the highest number for the longest life. Unfortunately on AAA batteries the printing is so small it is hard to see, so being your reading glasses.)

If I recall 600 to 700 hundred would be the low end for AAA and 1200 mAh the high end and double the life.

You may have to go to a specialty shop or eBay to find higher AmH batteries because most people shop price and won't pay more in Walmart for a better battery

Some of the cameras suck the hell out of batteries, I have a kodak and it takes AA but they fo after 1520 pics no matter what rechargable I buy. The newer cameras apparently take less power,

Had an HP camera years ago that did that. It was my first digital camera and didn't know much about them.
Would get ~30 pix, then the 2 AA batteries were dead.

Recently got a new cheap digital Polaroid camera with far better specs with lower battery drain and get >100 pix out of the same rechargeable Duracell 2650 mAh NiMH batteries used on that first high drain HP camera.

My Duracell AAA rechargeables are rated 1,000 mAh which are the highest I could find. How about non-chargeables like alkaline or lithium?

I found the best batteries to be sanyo "eneloop" brand. They hold up to 80% of their charge for 12 months and lasts longer than most rechargeables for point and shoot cameras. Might be a hard to find item so online is your best bet. Goodluck!

I have been using Energibzer Ultimate Litium AA in my camera and find these last a lot longer than other batteries that I have used in the past.

I needed a prop. Li-On battery for a Fuji camera. It was around $70 at Henry's in Toronto. so I went online and found it for under $20.

I experienced the same problem. I hooked up my camera to a car battery. So far it has lasted just over 4 years and counting.

PM me if you want instructions.
