Any Snooker players on here?

Might be a long shot on Terb...
I've been playing off and on for several years and love the game. Very relaxing extremely difficult to get really good at...like golf.
I love the challenge of the game. You can play it for 10 years and not master it.

Am I the only Snooker geek on here?:frown:

I had a pool table growing up and it's now in my house. I play all the time, been playing since I could see over the table. I'm very proficient at it but there's always someone to give you a dose of reality and tell you to go practice some more.

I have a friend who was often found at the pool hall after school and did push some serious stick over the years. He even built his dream home basically around a turn of the century table he'd acquired over the years and never had a good place to show it off. There is a place called the Academy of Spherical Arts off Dufferin and Liberty(?) that aside from offering great food as a fine restaurant, has a number of antiques tables on three floors that you can play on.

The thing is that you either have it or you dont. its hard to teach someone how to shoot. you need to feel the shot. if you can get good at shooting snooker, then you can clean up at the bars at 8 ball, but practice will help.

I'm sure you know the difference between snooker and 8-ball, but you might want to choose a wording that doesn't add confusion for those who don't know the difference.

my brother was a champ and could walk into almost any pool room and leave with a pile of money, but was too nice of a guy to do it very often because being a shark requires one to
scam people into thinking you are a bad player or an idiot before they put up serious cash and you clean up.

I like 8ball the most, snooker a distant second (while I consider myself a decent bar player my chops are not up to snuff and the game of snooker exposes my weaknesses) and 9ball is a even further third place (good game but no one wants to play it)

Not to mention tighter pockets.

I find on an 8ball table it's small enough and forgiving enough that even if I don't do a good job of playing shape I can usually find a shot to make. Snooker....... no way can you play like that.

I own my own full-sized 6ft x 12ft snooker table. I had to remove a wall to get the 16ft x 22 ft room for it. Stopped playing a few years ago cuz I lost interest. My highest break was 125.

Nice, I wish I had the room for a snooker table. My friend has a 100 year old Burroughes & Watts table that I could get off him for a very good price but I dont have the room for it. 125 is a great break. I play with very, very talented players who run 70-100 all the time. Im still a student of the game and trying to increase my break building and become more consistant. I run 40-50 quite often which is usually enuff to put the frame away but I dont have much 100+ runs under my belt yet.

There's VIP at Warden and Ellesmere. I play there sometimes, they have Westbury table's which I love. Tight pockets but for some reason I play best on those tables.
