Well, I was hoping that 2012 would bring a renewed civility to TERB. Maybe it's not too late, but I see the pissing contests have already flared up, with people crying "shill" and others piling on with their yeas and nays.
So, here's a suggestion to all as we kick off 2012 - no more shill accusations.
Here's why:
You don't really have any way to honestly verify that the poster is a shiller. You don't know their real identity (well, not very likely). You can't judge them based on Join Date and Post Count: some people live on TERB and post every other minute - quantity does not equal quality, others have been members for years but mostly lurk, and there's nothing wrong with that either. The fact that the poster's statistics don't "measure up" to your statistics is irrelevant.
Unless you've got some concrete facts to back up your accusation, it's just your opinion, nothing more. And while you do have a right to air your opinion on this board, all it's really doing is starting an unnecessary flame war.
So for the sake of a more civil board this year (and every year), if you read a review that you think is a shill, tune it out, ignore it, and move on!
Thank you.

P.S. I'm not saying there isn't room for disagreement on this board, but again, it can be done in a civilized manner supported by facts and/or personal experiences. It's the baseless noise we can all do without.
