I am sure the cops can't wait for the next contract negotiations considering the dirt they have on the Hon. Mayor. Thats why they are going to play the old (untrue) "we can not release details due to privacy concerns" bs.

They maybe plotting to just tear-up the old contract on Jan. 1/12 and start negotiating say a $2b budget. May as well go for the Gold with all the dirt they have and call in all the chips right now.

You might want to polish off those scratches on your crystal ball, it's whacked. An average 3+% raise over the next few years and a budget that is approximately half the size of other comparable North American cities. Give us a call when they rip up their contract, will ya? It's time to get the rocker on your hobby horse fixed.

Do you think that story is worthy of a front page headline? Please start your reply with a yes or no.
Yes.
The elected leader of the largest city in the nation allegedly so hammered at 4am christmas, and threatening to take away his children from his wife, yes this should be front page news. If you want to be mayor, dont engage in domestic squabbles severe enough to involve the police. It is very relevant to his character, and way more relevant than jack laytons visit to the chinatown r&t (which was also idiotic for someone in his position, but at least it did not involve allegations of possible domestic violence, threatened kidnapping and decades history of alcohol abuse resulting in illegal and dangerous activity).

Dirty laundry, sure, and of the kind that none of us would want splashed on the front of the paper, but hes the bloody mayor, he is expected to have his personal shit together.

I think they shifted to the left a while ago and now support the NDP not the Liberals.
the Liberals have been picking idiot leaders for a while now ( Dion and Iggy) and the party itself has been stumbling, thus voters as well as the Star have temporarily moved elsewhere, rather than blindly supporting a hollow, lost party. Perhaps Bob Rae ( and the bumbling of the NDP) will soon turn that back around.

HONESTLY I would not even wipe my ass with that paper...
You can do whatever you like, no-one will stop you, but for the record: It appears their story on Ford checked out, that what they wrote about him was true, that their sources are confirmed, and that Ford has dropped his lawsuit claiming they libeled him. So, whatever you may think of the paper in general, they appear to have been right in this case.

I delivered the Star and the Sun from the age of 12 to 14. Even at that age, I could see that the Star was completely biased and projected a liberal party editorial policy that leaked into every facet of the paper. I read the Star, Post and the Sun every day...somewhere in there is the truth. Just understand that no paper is unbiased.

Well Rob is in Florida as we speak. The cops left him with the kids. They don't leave kids with drunk people do they? Keep reading folks. Ever think that Rob might not be the only issue in that family?

And the Toronto Sun & National Post aren't completely biased? Read the Sun's pg 3 article today which was a complete and total suck-ass job for Rob Ford. (http://www.torontosun.com/2011/12/30/ford-says-911-caller-had-story-wrong) The author went on to say that:

"Meanwhile, there’s nothing lower than taking private-life information from someone’s policing position and leaking it to a person’s political enemies"

Oh, puhhleese. The Sun made its bones exploiting that practice.

As well, remember when Chretien revoked Conrad Black's Canadian citizenship? Wasn't it at about that time that the National Post stepped up its "Liberals + Chretien = Satan" campaign?

Well, our suburban-elected mayor is a consistent embarrasment to this city — and the ongoing coverage of this braggart, bully, liar and incompetent is going to continue. His feud with The Star (a paper I don't like very much) is typically petty and silly — and it serves Ford right. The Star, after all, has a bigger megaphone than the Mayor, and they're gonna go on using it until the silly man implodes, as a previous poster put it, in the next six months. Good riddance, sez me — and a majority of other Toronto residents, although maybe in Etobicoke they still harbour a wee bit of affection for the idiot.

911 call comes from Mayor of Toronto's house. Yes, that is front page news. Other newspapers are not running it on the front page - even though it is news - because they are right-wing, kiss-ass rags. The leader of the NDP went to a massage parlor 50 years ago - THAT they run over and over again on their front page and in their editorials.

The Sun is a right wing paper? When you exhale, give us a call, will ya?

The Star has been incredibly discreet in this matter. Can you imagine what Fox news would do to the mayor of a major US city who was liberal and a wife-beater. It would never end. 24 hours, 7 days a week of liberal-bashing. The Star should take the gloves off and stop pampering the Ford brothers.

It's redundant to say fuji got it wrong, but just remember that the Tsar said the same thing about "confirming" their false story about the earlier calls to police. That paper will print the most malicious lies if they get two anonymous sources to make the claim.

Again there is no proof he's a wife beater, but keep flapping your gums on that one. There has been many posts claiming the same, but no proof of it, just inuendo.

The fact that he somehow got into this position is indicative of how dumb some of us Torontonians really are...
