For me this only reinforced what a hack paper the Toronto Star is though. They cannot even give it away, and they are obviously slighted over Ford's refusal to talk to them given proven false reporting (and failure to apologize.)
Citation needed. The Star is standing by their story and not apologizing for it because it was true. They went back and reconfirmed their sources and stood by it. Ford dropped his lawsuit alleging that it was false presumably because he could not win, because the story was true.

It sounds like you believe whatever lies Ford spews, in any case I'd like to see the proof you are referring to.

The answer is yes. This man's character has to be front and centre as an elected official. Tommy boy has demonstrated that
he does not have the quality of character to lead this city and calls to 911 whether charges are laid are not are relevant to
the news of the city and the Star has every right to report it and front page it as well.

Well, the Ford follies are often fodder for the front page. Yes, if that is what any media source wants to start with fine. Ford is not the only one that gets front page status for stupidity regardless of which source publicizes his nonsense.

Toronto knew exactly what they were getting with Rob Ford now they have three more years of it.

Personally, I don't care what he does publicly or privately, he's a complete tool and is the face of tooltown.

Having the right and invoking the right is two different things. There are so so many really important story that could be front page material. If you want to lead the Metro section or the Family Life section with it go for it. I don't really care about the Battling Bickersons (look it up), especially to start the day.

I think it's very relevant to questions like, "am I comfortable having this person represent me".

In politics you are not innocent until proven guilty, the burden of proof rests with you to prove to the public why you deserve to stay in the job. What sort of a person you are is very relevant. What's the likely information here? At best Ford is an uncontrolled drunk who is trailer trash stupid when he falls off the wagon, who has anger management issues, and at worst he's a wife beater. Either way is that the sort of person you want to have representing you?

I love watching my friends, my freinds on Facebook and people on TERB get all bent out of shape and their blood pressure rise everytime Ford says or does something. LOL

It would be a lot funnier if he was mayor the circus, rather than mayor of the city.

He called 911 on Christmas to report that a fat guy was breaking into his home though the chimney... then he remembered there was a mirror on the mantlepiece. As he hung up the phone he was heard to exclaim, "at least it wasn't fucking Mary Walsh again!"

Fair enough.

The Star hates Ford. They run every unflattering picture or article that they can. Some of it is deservced but the Star are so biased that it's not funny.

Love him or hate him, something needed to be done to bring some sense of accountability to the financial management of Toronto.

Is he the glamorous mayor that Toronto has associated itself with? No, but that's not what he was elected for. He was elected to play the bad guy by making unpopular decisions, cutting costs/departments and implementing financial controls.

Will he be a one term mayor? I would say so (if his physical health allows him to).

The next mayor of Toronto will not be required to be the "bad person". He/she will have the opportunity to make the necessary changes under the new government yet be able to keep the unpopular decisions made by the Ford administration without it tarnishing their image.

Ford will be remembered as another Mike Harris, but hopefully he will be able to rid the city of some waste and largesse...without it, the good folks of Toronto will be paying a lot more on their tax bill.

Bullshit!

He wasn't voted in to be a exterminator, only to be a weed killer.

He was hired to grow roses and advance the city that he respects, loves and admires. That's the mandate of a chief magistrate. The mayor sets the tone for the culture, civic vision, international personality and future of the city's operations, socio/cultural status and acts as the chief spokesperson for city activities and legislation.

If the electorate doesn't understand this concept, they're as stupid as he is.

and some of you hate the Star....the best daily newspaper in canada. Yes, they are openly a liberal newspaper. That means they are right in the middle between the far left and the far right. People on the far right are apparently enraged by that fact.

Actually no, not at all. Polls consistently show that people in Toronto prefer tax rises over service cuts. Ford campaigned on a platform that he would find inefficiencies and eliminate them, saving money. He made extensive use of the term "gravy" in connection with that. He specifically promised in his election campaign that he would not cut any services, and that's why he was elected.

Now he is doing something radically different than he said he would. I think he's betrayed what he promised in the campaign, and I doubt many people will ever vote for him again.

So I wonder who has started the most anti-Ford threads in 2011 - Anbarandy of fuji ? Must be a fairly close race.

I think they shifted to the left a while ago and now support the NDP not the Liberals.

HONESTLY I would not even wipe my ass with that paper and furthermore anyone who reads it is creepy eeck! Why do they feel it is there job to be king maker in Toronto using disgusting tactics and that they would be the first to cry foul if it was someone else. I can make decisions for myself not like those limp wrist-ed creeps that actually absorb that garbage as truth. Who in the hell in their right mind supports running a deficit raise taxes cut spending whatever folks do the math for fuck sakes!!

It's amazing how some react to certain things. I wonder what newspaper you read. A newspaper doesn't last as long as the Star, over 100 years, without some sense of balance or a least respect from a large group of people. Considering how many reporters and editors presently work for the Star and how many of the same over the years you're going to get some you disagree with, but to call it the equivalent of toilet paper is just nutts. If you tracked the same reporters and editors they, for all intents and purposes play musical chairs between the various papers, as it 's a very small club, and depending on the winds of the day, read owners.

This post is not so much a defence of the Star, but simply your description of it.

Again, what newspaper do you read?
