My brother and I were cruising south on Yonge around 7pm tonight when the girl in front of us signaled for a parallel park. As we were patiently waiting for her to give it a try, we noticed a few things. One, my brother and I could have made this parallel park easily, despite the opening being relatively small. Two, her ride had enough scuffs and dents on it to tell us this might not end well. Three, it didn't end well. She backed right into a Lexus hard enough that my brother and I both thought there'd be decent damage. In contrast to what I've seen before, she didn't speed off as fast as she could. I thought: great, she actually has a conscience and is going to check for damage.

Anyway, she finished her park without any more collisions and we wanted to see what she'd do next, so we pulled around the next corner and stopped to watch. She got out, grabbed her bag from the back seat, paid the meter, and left. Not one look to see if there was damage to either car! Like she didn't realize she had hit it (or didn't care). There were no open parking spots around, so my brother hopped out to see if there was damage to the Lexus. She must have hit it square in the license plate because my brother couldn't find anything. He decided to go looking for the owner of the Lexus anyway, but couldn't find him. So if you parked your Lexus on Yonge this evening, you might want to quickly check over your front bumper!

I'm so tired of people like this. Why can't they have respect for other people's property? If that was my Lexus, I'd be pissed...even with no apparent damage.

you couldn't find any damage so what's the problem? Yet you tried to find the Lexus owner to tell him there was no damage? You were really bored that night , eh?

I didn't do either of those things. My brother did. He went in the store the Lexus was parked in front of and asked around.

What's the problem? Seriously? She had enough scuffs and dents on her car to account for running into TEN cars. Someone like her shouldn't be on the road...especially if she doesn't take responsibility when she hits someone.

No LKD, she wasn't blonde lol. She was Asian though....

If you want your car to stay virginal, keep it in your garage. They do call those things on the front and back 'bumpers'. Next time you're car shopping, demand a reasonable answer to, "Why do you put expensive paint and plastic on these things instead disposable/recoatable stuff?"

My grandfather bought a new vehicle every 3 years. The first thing he did when he got it home, was take a hammer and hit the bumper, and put a dent in it. That way he never had worry about other people hitting it or him hitting something.

If humans were thinking animals, the Canadian variety would buy only galvanized or stainless steel cars. If you were feeling specially self-important, you might paint yours.

Car fetishism is incomprehensible to me, do these people feel the same protectiveness about their lawn mowers? Washing machines?

See that kind of thing all the time downtown which is why i hate parking anywhere downtown...I remember one time at a parking lot on front this woman squeezed into a tight spot, but not after smoking one of the cars, and she did this repeatedly three times until she figured it was too tight...backed up into the spot across from it and almost went on top of the car on the other end of that spot...she then proceeded to the parking meter lol Oblivious x 10

I am shocked, actually to see so many people take on this oblivious laissez faire attitude. We need a course correction.
So am I. I'm starting to wonder how many Terbites are bad parallel parkers.

When I spend close to a third of my annual salary on something, I naturally become protective of it. If someone hits my car, I expect them to atleast get in contact with me and see where I want to go from there. Any damage caused by that hit is damage that wouldn't have been there if it weren't for them. How protective a person is of their car is a non-issue. You caused damage to someone else's property. You are obligated to do what is necessary to reverse that damage, so that the innocent party doesn't have to take a loss.

Very true. It would be nice if everyone thought that way, but sadly there's a lot of people that don't put any thought into damaging someone else's property. To some of us cars are prized possessions and to others their just a means of transportation.

Candidates for Canada's Worst Driver ? Season IV started this afternoon. All the candidates are from out west, with the exception of the stop-sign-running little old lady. She's from Sault Ste Marie. Entertaining show.

It makes me laugh to see people upset over little scratches on their car. They're disposable, within 10 years they'll be scrapped and recycled.

I would find it entertaining if the candidates actually had incentive to do well. As it is, many of the contestants don't care, so we don't actually get a real picture of their driving ability. Perhaps introducing a sliding pay scale would be intuitive. For example:

$25,000 if you get your license back the first show
$20,000 for the second show
$16,000 for the third show
and so on....

So if I accidentally spill something on your $30,000 suit, you're just going to shrug that off because it's disposable? If you couldn't afford another $30,000 suit, would you continue to wear the stained one? Would you pay thousands of dollars to have the stain removed yourself?
