They assessed the situation and gave it the attention that it deserved (not much at all).
However, the fact it was the Mayor (who further has received death threats) made it a no discretion call. I predict some heads are going to roll.

class one priority call !!!!! , 911 is supposed to be an emergency , ten min. to respond to an emergency at Mayor's house, damn , they will have a really problem now , and yes FORD cut into the fat of the Police force , in this city.

10 minutes!!! 911 call!! had to call twice, yep Toronto finest, I would cut 15% of those over priced bodies they call a police force.

Calm down, it was not really an emergency. The fat man overreacted.

It's probably a good thing we don't give him class one priority with the 911 service. He's just proven he has NO IDEA WHAT CONSTITUTES AN EMERGENCY.

The 911 operator did the right thing. They assessed the situation and gave it the attention that it deserved (not much at all).
Bingo, well said.

Nah, this is Canada. We don't have the respect for authorities you enjoy in the US.

This is making the mayor look foolish and lacking in both sense of humour and civility. These are exactly the three things a politician should avoid at all cost.

You don't get it Danmand, given that it was the Mayor's house, it was the type call that had he said there were Girl Scouts on the front lawn the first police should have been there in only a minute or two. Liking the Mayor or hating the Mayor should have absolutely nothing to do with it.

For the police to be there in only a minute or two they would have to maintain a car within a block or two of his house at all times doing nothing but waiting for his call. There is only so far you can drive in a minute or two.

Didn't see a link to the video but I guess they're saving that for any formal inquest.

I don't live far from him and have bumped into him a few times in the neighbourhood.

Well, he wasn't hired for being a Harvard graduate, etc. but this kind of behaviour from a Mayor shouldn't be tolerated. It shows his disdain for any civil service workers, and politically damaging. He does have the right though to eject people that are trespassing on his property via the police. His handler needs to coach him more.

[As far as the last Mayor who was a Harvard graduate & who always spoke perfectly, if I bumped into him, I'd tell him how stupid an idea it was to have made the changes on St. Clair Ave, especially since I was stuck in traffic in that one-lane parking lot. Some people are too educated to make common sense decisions.]

I don't get it either. If it's not a real emergency, he shouldn't get a real emergency response.

Do you know of any politician that doesn't receive death threats? It's an unfortunate part of being a public figure.. The crazies get to focus in on you..

You seem to be arguing that the dispatcher disregarded his call entirely, when it's clearly not the case.

Your only argument can possibly be that, even after the dispatcher deemed there was no particular emergency, they didn't send cruisers screaming over to the mayor's house...

This is a good lesson for Rob Ford. Simply because he is mayor, he is not entitled to call 911 over (what he alone considers to be) "invasion of privacy" issues.

In my opinion, he should be fined for doing so.

You don't get it Aardie. The mayor looks like an idiot. Bob Rae would look like an idiot also, if he did the same thing.

What he should've said was, "I will meet you outside my office but not outside my home - please respect my privacy. Now can you let me go, I have a job to do and must get to my office please".

He's only human. Just like the cops who fuck up and get caught are only humans.

Come to think of it, Mayor Ford could've had fun with it and said "Halloween isn't until Monday. If you come by, we will have treats for you.".

Wow.

I've been following this article on the Globe and Mail. When I first read it an hour ago, 400+ people had commented on it. An hour later it's up to 1000 comments. Big surprise, most are commenting on what an ass we have for a mayor.

LOL, someone should warn the 911 dispatch to put an extra operator on staff for hallowe'en. Phone's going to be ringing off the hook!

"Where the f--- are you, there's ANOTHER one at my door"
Just imagine when a group of them start yelling, "Trick or Treat, smell our feet give us candy and we'll retreat!"
