Virgin is a for profit corporation. How can you live with yourself if you give them money, woodpecker?

Hey it only cost $10 and no contract. I can live with that. It's not like getting HOSED for ~$300+, plus a two yr contact with Apple, or whatever costing an additional $85/month!....:eyebrows:

Anyone have the actual link to the ad on the Virgin website? Can't seem to find it and would love to get a new hobby phone without any type of registration involved.

Works well. I have one.

My present prepaid phone that I use strictly for hobbying, I have to add-on minutes each month so the remaining balance rolls over to the next month. If I don't top off and add minutes each month my balance will go back to a zero balance immediately. I'm looking for other options around this as I already have a prepaid phone with a balance of around $400. I've had this extra phone for a long time and have only been adding the minimum of $10 each month for several years.

Found out this is the downside to the Virgin Mobile Prepaid Cell Phone in the OP down here in the States.
After checking further whatever minutes you buy are only good for 30 days, then you have to buy more minutes for the next 30 days and every following month to keep it active!

TracFone has a better deal down here.
You pay $10 for phone and any pre-paid minutes purchased are good for either 90 days or 1 year, either of which you can select. Activation looks easy and can be done online.

The trick is finding which one of these phones lets Skype or Google Voice be tied into it which will give you the ability to talk all you want without using up any of your pre-paid minutes....;)

Unless things have changed, I get the 100 dollar card and it is good for a year. Usually have a third of half my minutes left over.

That does look like the best deal and now they are giving double minutes on all cards so that 1 yr 400 minute card gives you 800 minutes....;)

That is unless Google Voice works on it which would give you unlimited minutes for the year.

Do use Google Voice or Skype wouldn't you need a data plan?

Don't think so.
When setting up Google Voice, all that was needed was to link it to an existing phone line or landline and GV worked like a charm. Haven't tried setting it up on a cell yet.

With mine, it is a 100 bucks and minutes are 30 cents, 60 long distance, I don't ever recall seeing any card by the minute. At least in this neck of Ontario.

Down here in the USA TracFone offers all kinds of different minute cards and all are doubled now with a couple offering triple minutes!
