Well all I can say is that Hudak snatched defeat from the jaws of victory. If he couldn't win this one he should do the honourable thing and pull and Iggy Exit.
I agree. There was certainly a desire in Ontario for a change in government. Partly because we're in the midsts of a difficult economic situation, and partly because eight years is a long time, maybe time to let someone else have a chance.
So Hudak started out the race as the default choice, I think. A lot of people wanted to vote for him. The polls showed that I think, he was leading.
But then people started paying attention, getting to know who he was, and the reality is that he is a horrible candidate. He says inane things. He doesn't appear to have a spine. He talks about taking fairly radical action, but without having any sort of plan.
I think if the PC's had run somebody credible, somebody who actually had a vision they believed in, somebody who seemed like they had a clue, then they would have won the election by default.
It's definitely the case that Hudak lost this, more so than that McGuinty won.
