With just a few days left until Ontarians go to the polls, the two front-runners are tied in voter support, a new poll suggests.

The Nanos Research poll, conducted for CTV, CP24 and the Globe and Mail, puts the Progressive Conservatives at 36.4 per cent support, with the Liberals less than a percentage point behind at 35.6 per cent support. The NDP are holding steady at 25.7 per cent support.

The polling firm surveyed 900 Ontarians aged 18 and over on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The margin of error is +/- 3.5 per cent, 19 times out of 20.

The results are only marginally different than a poll released Sunday that put the Liberals slightly ahead. That poll gave:

the Liberals 36.5 per cent support
the Conservatives 34 per cent support
the NDP 6.8 per cent support

As for who would make the province's best premier, Liberal Leader Dalton McGuinty has only a slight edge at 30.9 per cent support. Tory Leader Tim Hudak is close behind with 29.7 per cent support. NDP Leader Andrea Horwath would make the best premier to 18.1 per cent of respondents, while 14 per cent said they are unsure.

Those results were nearly identical to a poll released Sunday that asked the same question.

Monday's poll also asked respondents a handful of questions, including which issue is of most concern to them. According to the survey:

27.8 per cent said jobs and the economy
23.7 per cent said health care
14.4 per cent said high taxes
9.4 per cent said education

In polling between mid-August and October, jobs and the economy, and health care have traded places as the issue of greatest concern to voters. On September 11, for example, nearly 33 per cent of respondents put health care as their top issue, compared to nearly 22 per cent who chose jobs and the economy.

When asked which of four specific economic priorities was most important to them:

46.4 per cent said creating jobs
24.7 per cent said controlling taxes
19.6 per cent said managing the debt and deficit
8 per cent said promoting innovation

Respondents were also asked which party leader they trusted most to manage these economic priorities. McGuinty was favoured by 33.4 per cent of respondents, Hudak by 31.1 per cent and Horwath by 17.4 per cent. Just over 17 per cent of respondents said they were unsure or none of them could be trusted on economic priorities.

Finally, when asked which of three energy priorities is most important to them, respondents said:

managing costs (41.5 per cent)
promoting conservation (30.4 per cent)
encouraging innovation (24.5 per cent)

As for the leaders most trusted to handle these energy priorities, McGuinty had the slight edge at 31.0 per cent support, followed by Hudak at 29.2 per cent and Horwath at 16.1 per cent. Just over 20 per cent of respondents said none of the leaders was most trusted on these issues, or said they were unsure.

New polling indicate that the Liberals are on the verge of another majority government.

Various factors interrupted Hudak's coronation:

Grants to "foreigners" was seen as anti-immigrant
Toronto's Sex-Ed curriculum was viewed as homophobic
Vision was no different from the Liberals, e.g. would keep HST
Andrea Horwath came off better from the debate

Seen as anti immigrant, by who, the Liberals or the Liberal friendly media known as The Toronto Star and The Globe and Mail? I know plenty of immigrants who are offended by this idea, and with unemployment the way it is in this "Have Not" province thanks to your hero McGuinty, how can you say its fair that a new immigrant would get a job over someone that lived here all their life?

The Sex-Ed curriculum naturally would be seen as homophobic by the gay community, they still think everyone is against them.

Hudak has come across in this campaign as "McGuinty lite" and has ran a poor campaign.

Andrea Howarth has come across as a breath of fresh air and has done a good job in this campaign.

Still, none of these are any good reasons to reelect Dolton McTaxme, i have told people to vote for whichever candidate in their riding has the best chance to defeat a Liberal, we cannot afford another 4 years of his smug,I know whats best for you ideology!

Hudak's election to lose, the guy looks like Count Chocula and has ran a useless campaign. Must be from a small town in Fort Erie. Just a guess.

The PC's could have thrown a blow up doll in a suit and walked away with this election, but they went with this guy. What can ya do.

The election was the Conservatives to lose and it looks as though they have succeeded in doing this. Hudak only went on the attack but seemed to offer no viable solutions. Hopefully they will learn someday they have to look like they have something to offer at least.

One poll near the end that had Hudak in a slim lead, and a leger poll not si long ago that had Andrea at 29 percent, so who knows what's going to happen tonight. Even the polls that agree on the upper numbers, disagree regionally.

If it is a minority Hudak could always sell his soul to Andrea to be premier, she probably would accept nothing less.

Well, the best result in my opinion. A Liberal minority by that much. The whips will earn their salaries during this session. Every vote counts, no one can be absent. It's going to be interesting.
