Best thing to do is get a hotel near old Montreal so you are near the largest selection of great sights, some within walking distance. Viewing the city from the top of the mountain, Even a simple ride on the Metro can be a treat for someone from Toronto, quiet, clean, and fast to almost anywhere. take a caleche ride around downtown and have the driver make some suggestions. Old Fort Montreal if history is of interest, the Casino if not. Distances are very short in Montreal, not like TO, but driving around can be tricky if your not use to it. Take the Metro or cab it around.

Im going to Montreal with the S/O..Any suggestions on touristy type or nice things to do there??
Old Montreal Hotels - I recommend the Placed'Armes, Nelligan and Saint Sulpice
Bars - bar at the Nelligan is great ( the one NOT next to the lobby), Cresent street, St Laurent Blvd above Sherbrooke st
Attractions - Montreal Casino, Bell Center (hockey, concerts), Art Museum, Place d'Arts ballet and theatre
Adult ballet - Chez Pare or Wanda's both of which are centrally located downtown
Restaurants - too many to mention except I would take Gibby's off the list as its getting to be a bit run down and rely's on rep. Just as pricey but with better steaks is Que de Cheval on Rene Levesque not too far from the Bell Center.

Biodome is definitely worth a visit. There is a Metro stop right next to the entrance. Google the website for more info.

Right now, the park on Montreal Royal wll be filled with fall colour generally better than what's available in Ontario.
Combine with a trip to the Oratory and one of the largest church domes after St Peters.

+1 for biodome, a walk on Mont Royal, Old Port, Oratory. I also remember reading about some kind of attraction where you go in a vertical wind tunnel and it sort of like being in free fall as the wind is strong enough to pick you off the ground. Maybe someone else can direct you there.
