Of course we know how politicians lie or change their minds, but at least that's is his statement today, just like the other 45,000 times he said he wouldn't run, but someone will still try and run with it; no names of course.
He has been consistently saying over the past year that he will not run and he stuck to that. Doesn't surprise me at all. It's too late anyway. The amount of money needed to be raised for a Presidential run these days is insane. Nobody else can jump in now and have any hope of catching up. The Republican field is set, such as it is.

Makes ya wonder WTF Christie is hiding in his past???....
(Twenty)Two all-beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions, all on a sesame seed bun?

It would be kinda tough to be the fattest US President since Taft. Not sure that's an image we want to project.

So hypothetically, what does a fat president project? I'm not too sure what you meant there.

It may not be fair, and most likely isn't, but these days physical appearance is huge, no pun intended. I'm not saying this is necessarily a good thing. We tend to wind up with politicians who look good on camera and not all that much more. Lincoln in today's world couldn't have been elected dog catcher. Christie would have had a hell of a time on a national stage, and there would always be doubts about his being healthy enough to handle 16-18 hour days required of a President in these times.

I do agree that appearance does have an effect with getting elected these days, but only to a certain extent of course. If and when Christie gets on the national stage, the critics that go after him for being fat and say he wouldn't be an effective president because of his weight are only doing him a favor. Similarly people who went after Obama on the smoking angle just totally discredited themselves.

I don't know if Christie would have been a good candidate or later on president, but just the fact that a lot of people on the left and on the right were getting ready to find dirt on him or take pot shots at him makes me believe that he would have been appealing to a lot of moderates on both sides. Hopefully he does a decent job in Jersey.

He seems to enjoy it and good for him. Personally I think anyone who would want to be President in this day and age has to be more than a little bit nuts.

Oh, I don't think we've seen the last of Chris Christie, not by a long shot. I fully expect him to be a candidate for President in 2016 or 2020.

In fairness, I think Christie is actually trying to work on losing weight and getting in better shape.
He's smart not to run this round, why would anyone want to is beyond me.

Romeny has to because if he didn't and tried in 2016 people would look at him as a quitter, since he ran in '08 - lost to McCain. Only natural for him to run now and this could be his last go at it.
Christie on the other hand has a clean slate and if he does a good job with Joisy' he'll do well if he runs for Prez.

But he'll never live this one down, shaking Obama's hand, patting him on the back AND SMILING.
