Overall, I think McGuinty held his own. I think it was more of the same accusations and promises as always.

Which one promised to lower taxes, reduce government spending, eliminate programs, and generally get out of our lives as much as possible?

I agree although Horwath is an excellent performer. Some pundits are saying McGuinty looked nervous. I don't agree. He does get tangled up in numbers. Hudak does not connect IMO.

I've heard even conservative voters say that Hudak's profile has been too low.

Even friends from the Liberal war room didn't think that McGuinty won the debate.

He looked like he needed to take a shit (if not cry) in the opening minutes.

And refusing to let others talk made him look like a bully.

His flailing arms throughout the debate buried whatever message he might have had.

And for those of us who listened through all that, he had nothing to say.

Hudak was elected leader of the PC,s by the hard right of his party, they opposed John Tory as leader from the very beginning. That could be the reason why he's laying low. Plus I've never bought into the premise that you can low taxes and balance the books at the same time. Someone has to make up the shortfall, usually the municipalities.

I don't know how anyone can vote for someone who lied twice that he would not raise taxes. [health tax, HST]

Everything out of McFuckney's mouth cannot be taken seriously. Calling a huge cash grab "harmony" and "business cost saving" insults voter intelligence.

The media is so liberal in Canada, and it appears that our pollsters are biased now too.

I expect a Hudak majority.

A Hudak majority?

Based upon all polls as well as his performance last night, what is the basis (other than bias, emotion and hope) for this claim?

Well blopar, pollsters are now predicting a conservative minority, which is exactly what they predicted before the federal election. We all know Harper won with a huge majority.

Doug Joe, not all pollsters predicted a conservative minority in the previous federal election, and the primary reason they did that was because the federal NDP cut significantly into the support for the federal Liberals, especially in Ontario.

It remains to be seen whether a similar phenomenon will occur in the Ontario provincial election.

Our Tim Hudak of ON PC was great at the debate, Andrea was runner-up and the TAX Man looked tired and exhausted!
Tim Hudak looked like our next Premeir of Ontario, whereas Andrea needs more years to come up to his standards of becoming a Premeir of this HAVE NOT Province of Ontario!! Goodluck Tim Hudak on October 06, 2011!

The problem that we have in Canada and world wide is, the majority of people will typically vote for the same party regardless if their bad for the country/province or not. It's brand loyalty till the end.
After watching that debate Maguinty IMO was clearly in last place. He got flustered on a number of occasions. He also got called out on a number of things and it had him scrambling. You just get the feeling this guy is out of touch with Ontarian. Kind'a like he's living in a bubble. He wouldn't know what people wanted if it hit him in the face. His track record really says it all, tax hike, e-health...... And the worst thing is we're in a borderline recession and he hikes up taxes.
Look at the Canadian banks, they reduced interest rates due to the recession to help the recovery process and lessen the burden on businesses and families, mmmmm interesting.....
For me I'm leaning towards Horvath and Hudak second. Maguinty isn't and shouldn't even be an option. But like I said, the majority of people are so brand loyal they'll vote for the guy. It's sad really. We've had the guy for 8 years and we all know what he's done for us. Are the alternatives really worse then him, come on people?

It's not about IF you are going to get fucked, it's about WHEN and HOW you are going to get fucked.
Agree 100%. That's why my theory is to never let a party govern for more than one term because the longer they are in the more corrupt they become.

Well let hope spring eternal for you and reality keep in the back seat. Hudak was ahead in the polls at the beginning of summer and has been falling since then. It's like picking a horse that has tired before reaching the finish line. McLiberal is a seasoned war horse and realizes that it is only necessary to be ahead on one day for the actual election poll.

I hate the choices we have. I can't forget voting for Harris (conservative) and getting rewarded with the 407 sale then flip and finally getting saddled with ludicrous user rates on a highway that I had paid for with gas increases. Add that when it comes to stealing tax money, it was a joint conservative/ liberal effort that brought us the HST. Every time I see McLiberal on TV, I want to hide the children - he reminds me of a used car salesman. And Hudak - has yet to promise anything but a spending program twice the size of the other parties but promising to lower taxes ... I didn't think provinces could print money so who pays ?

Still have no idea how I'll vote.
