Well i'm kind of settling down a bit now, and some potential women either never called me or I never called them back. Strange process.

Anyway, there is a woman with a lot of potential at work. We have known each other for a quite a while now, she doesn't look bad and we feel really comfortable together and have gotten along.

Only trouble is, I'm technically her boss. This is not permanent because she will be moving to another position.

My policy has always been never to pursue such relationships as they can only lead to trouble.

And the woman has to make some sort of move because I'm not going to initiate such a thing.

Then again you might miss out on something special.

Going to a party this weekend and she will be there. And she has sent interest signs for sure.

Honestly don't know what I will do. Any advice?

1. What is your company policy?
2. Is there a company policy on dating subordinates regardless of department?
3. What happens when the relationship fizzles out?
4. How long have you been planning career suicide?

"You get back here and finish what you started"

Have you ever heard the term "Don't shit where you eat?"

You basically cannot do this while you're her boss, unless your goal is to fuck up your life. Once you're no longer her boss make your move. Patience...

"She doesn't look bad". Hardly a ringing endorsement. Go find one you actually like.

I would only pursue her if you are serious about a relationship. I tried the fuck buddy thing with a co-worker, the thing was even though she said being fuck buddies was fine she really wanted a relationship. Needless to say things got very awkward, very fast at work. Also for some reason when I was seeing her I wanted to have sex in the office which in hindsight is obviously a bad idea but given the situation it's hard not to have that urge.

If you're seriously considering marrying this one, go ahead and fuck her (but express your feelings beforehand). Then transfer her to another department or change jobs yourself. It sounds like you're not quite sure if she's the one, so keep it professional.

I used to bang a chick who worked in one of our offices in another country whenever I had to go there... that's as close as I would come to getting involved with someone at work. She was in my department and although she reported to someone locally, she had dotted line to me. One night, we had been out for dinner and we were heading into the lobby of my hotel to go up to my room. My boss was at the front desk checking in when we walked by and he looked over and saw us. He never mentioned it, but after that I called it quits. If he blew the whistle, I would've been done. Plus she was married, so I'm sure they would think I was a prick for banging a married chick.

I's funny how we all KNOW that the correct advice is "don't do it"

However, if we were all in his situation, we'd be rolling around how to successfully pull it off without suffering the consequences.

Yeah... but he's "technically her boss" and I think that puts it right over the line, however "This is not permanent because she will be moving to another position". If he really wants to take a chance of fucking his co-worker, I think he should wait until she is clearly his co-worker and not his employee. Sounds like that's coming soon. So patience...

I agree. That would be unethical...like cheating on a spouse.
I disagree. Fucking your employee potentially puts them into a difficult position, where they may feel that their job depends on fucking you (even if that's not your intent). There are therefore legitimate questions as to whether it is really consensual. No such coercion exists in the case of simple adultery.

I'm technically her boss.
So long as this is the case.. don't even think about it. If things go wrong.. you'd be in a huge pile of shit. She could make your life absolutely miserable, should she so choose.

Dating co workers is tricky, but a death trap. Being her boss takes it to a whole new level. Be vewy vewy careful.
