Sappy question but do you cry more as you get older?

As you get older, hopefully you get wiser, more mature and humble. You may 'stop and smell the roses more' as you have a better grasp of your mortality here on Earth.

Did anyone see that episode where Gene Simmons cries over his father's grave in Israel? Does anyone remember when Jean Alesi won his 1st Grand Prix victory in Montreal for Ferrari? He said he had tears in his eyes when he realized that he was going to cross the finish line 1st.

All this is normal. We're humans. We're emotional critters.

It's normal for men to do so as they experience a reduction in testosterone levels with age.
I have also heard that it is common for anyone who has open heart surgery, particularly a bypass. The term used is "by-pass brain".

Dale Ernhart cried after finally winning the Daytona 500.

Seen lots of soldiers cry during ramp services repatriating their comrades bodies back to Canada.

Seen more than one husband cry when thier wife passed.
Yes. This is all fine. There is a threshhold at which men are permitted to cry - times of great sorrow or joy. That's it. No other time. There are several rules in the Guy Code about this.

Definitely. I dont think i cried at all between childhood and age 30 or more.

In the last 5-10 years ive experienced a number of major personal and family stresses / events that turned life upside down, and in some cases had no choice but to cry. Thankfully i got through it all, but once you have let it out, its harder to keep in.

The things that touch me and sometimes move me to cry are obviously major personal tragedies in me or loved ones, or emotional hurt. The thing that surprises me most is im also very touched like the op by sincere basic human kindness. Stories of this (real- or well done in a novel or movie) will often bring a tear to my eye (no full blown blubbering, but i little drop;))

Call me a pussy if you will......

Though it goes against my libertarian instinct, I have to agree with this.

Men are allowed to shed tears at:
  • Death of mother, father, spouse or child
  • When he catches is testicle hairs in his zipper
  • When watching "Old Yeller"
  • Watching a replay of The Immaculate Reception.

You forgot when he catches his foreskin in his zipper (happens with boys).
