I've recently got a virus on my computer, it's the XP Security 2011 virus (poses as a fake antivirus)

Not sure how I got it but i tried using one of my virus removable program and it wouldn't even let me run it. I also tried setting my time ahead/backwards but no luck either. Asked around and I was told that I can put it in safe mode, locate the file and delete it manually. The problem is Im not a computer savvy person so I do not want to go that route so for you computer savvy people that are reading this, what can I do to fully remove this annoying virus.

Thanks

Download rkill and malware bytes. Go into safe mode and run both. restart.

I've had this before. It has several different names.

Google the name of the security program it gives you and include the word virus. You may have to do this on a different computer if it won't let you access your internet browser. Then print out the instructions and follow them.

Basically the first step is to download and run a small program (rkill) that stops the running virus program. That allows you to either download Malwarebytes (or something else) or run a scan with your current anti-virus. That will remove the virus. Then reboot and you're good to go.

It's not hard to do at all once you have the instructions. Just a pain in the ass when it happens.

If you don't already have anti-virus, GET IT!!! (usually you get this virus because you've clicked on something that allows it to bypass your anti-virus and infect your computer)
