Why should I vote for anyone based on what they do for Toronto? I don't vote based on what a party is going to do for ME; I want them to be fair and wise for the whole country. If my region does not deserve a particular project or funding, I don't want them to get it.

you are bang on. Pork politics are one of the major causes of waste in government.

-- CBC Newsworld (I'd love to whack all of CBC Television, but I suspect these things have to be done in stages)

-- Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency
-- And whatever the hell the Canadian Museum of Nature and the Canadian Museum of Civilization are.

I would then encourage a thoughtful examination of the books to determine next steps.

True. I think the Liberals realize that Iggy was a poor choice and this proposed election is more of an opportunity to replace Iggy than to defeat the Conservatives.

Opportunity it may well be, but you'd have to be bonkers to choose an election and its unknown consequences to do it. While they could have replaced him before all this, as they replaced Dion, if they do after it'll be an unintended benefit, but hardly the reason for bringing down the government.

Given how easily the Cons could have managed things to stay in power—it's not like they never give it a thought, or didn't have those smarts—if we wind up in the same mess they get as much blame as anyone.
