I wonder how you stop people like:

Ghenghis Khan
Napoleon
Mussolini
Hitler
... to name a few

.
psst. they are all dead.

The objective of these left-wing international socialists is to weaken out society so that it is easier to 'attack' be it military or economic.

.
there are peace loving people who are not part of international conspiracies. you may disagree with them but I think its unfair to question their motives.

The BARBARIANS are always at the gate.
Don't ever forget that.
barbarians? do you sleep at night?

WITHOUT going to war.
Hmmmm - maybe by appeasing them and just giving them what they want?

We chose to fight Hitler only to open our legs to Uncle Joe, who was ten times worse. Go figure.

Gee, I asked this once before and the butthead that posted became awfully silent, but how exactly is Uncle Sam worse than Hitler? I'm guessing you're not old enough to know many survivors form WWII, nor have you lived in the countries ravage by the nazis. Am I wrong?

Ask any Eastern European and you'll know the answer.

I too prefer peace over war. Every sane person does.

I agree with your comments about individual peace lovers - but the "Peace Movement" is another issue.

The Barbarian at the gate is China. Today they quietly build up their economy. One day their economy will be able to support a military. The Chinese economy will be starved for resources and what do you think the military will be used for?

Give it 20 years - 30 years tops and there WILL be a war for resources.
What we see today in Iraq and Afghanistan is just a few smouldering hotspots.
US Army is in training for the "Olympic Event"
Don;t delude yourselves - it is coming.

i don't have a problem with the white poppy to promote peace. i have a problem with the time of year. this month is for remembrance and honouring the men and women that died for our freedoms. do the white poppy at an earlier date, somewhere between january and september.

Actually sometimes war is the ONLY way to get peace. It is certainly not the preferred way - but sometimes you face an enemy so evil, so bent on destroying you or taking what you have that there is no choice but to defend yourself.

Even our friend Fuji agrees there are just wars. The problem is that he wants to fight these wars without hurting the other guy. If anybody ever attacks me and I can't flee (like a coward), I'll do everything in my power to neutralize him or her.

My great grandfather was a vet before he past at 93. Fought in both world wars, earned himself tons of medal's. I must admit, I am a little offended as great grand daughter of a vet about the white poppy and some of the reasons behind it. My great grand-father was not pro-war. Neither were his friends that died beside him. There is no romantic notions going on when I wear a poppy.

I like the idea of prmoting peace, but I just think there is a better way to do. A white ribbon, a white wristband, a white flower of a different kind, dove pins...... I mean the list of ideas that can go on and on.
Both my grandparents fought in the first war, and they both would have embraced the idea of a white poppy for peace.

Keep it simple. The red poppy also represents the notion of peace. It represents sacrifice, war, freedom, and peace. Like Legion reps have said, it's also a trademark issue. Based on that alone, this is a non-issue and the white poppy should be banished.

Keeping it simple, the poppy does not symbolize all those things you mentioned.

"THE FLOWER OF REMEMBRANCE

An American teacher, Moina Michael, while working at the YMCA Overseas War Secretaries’ headquarters in New York City in November 1918, read John McCrae’s poem “In Flanders Fields”. She immediately made “a personal pledge to keep the faith and vowed always to wear a red poppy of Flanders Fields as a sign of remembrance and as an emblem for keeping the faith with all who died".

Two years later, during a 1920 visit to the United States, a French woman, Madame Guerin, learned of the custom. On her return to France, she decided to use handmade Poppies to raise money for the destitute children in war-torn areas of the country. Following the example of Madame Guerin, the Great War Veterans’ Association in Canada (the predecessor of The Royal Canadian Legion) officially adopted the Poppy as its Flower of Remembrance on 5 July 1921."

And the only purpose for Remembrance Day is to honour those who fought and died.
It is not a day to use their sacrifice to further a political agenda.

That is great, and as I said, I like the idea of promoting peace.

In my opinion, they could have found better way that doesn't insult some of our vets. One insulted vet is one to many in my opinion.
There's no need to be insulted.

I think we should also have a "yellow poppy" to be worn by all those who refuse to fight tyranny because it means some people might get hurt.
