Not everybody wants to run multiple browsers, there is a benefit to keeping things simple.
Having multiple browsers is not difficult or complex.
It's nothing more than having another program to run to view the www.
Keep IE as your default if you want. The latest 2 versions of IE are said to be a vast improvement over earlier versions which had many problems. I usually have 3-4 browsers installed just to see what the others are like and very seldom if ever use IE anymore. IMHO there are better browsers than IE out there.

What's so great about non-IE browsers other than "speed"?
SPEED!
Opera and Chrome are the fastest.
Better security than IE.

I like Opera for some extra features like:
1 Built in bit torrent client that works very well. Got a rare hard to find 24 song CD yesterday in < 4 minutes using it.
2 Built in translator feature accessed by simply right clicking the word, phrase or sentence you want translated.
3 Pix can be easily enlarged or made smaller by hitting the + and - keys.
4 Many other keyboard shortcuts built in.
5 Voice feature for Windows, where a male or female voice will read aloud whatever you highlight.
6 Many other add-ons available.

Thanks. I understand the issues, I work in IT. And I prefer to keep things simple, particularly on my home PC. That does not mean I would never install a new program, but I prefer not to, unless there is a compelling reason. Some people like new programs for the sake of learning new programs, but a new browser would not be exciting, just something else to break.

Very true, I like to see what new programs have to offer. Some are better some are not.

Having an extra browser did come in pretty handy last week when my sister's browser was high-jacked, breaking it and making it inoperable. Backup browsers allowed me to download apps to repair the high-jacking easily in a few minutes to get her main browser back up and running.

I just noticed that my smilies don't appear. I'm using IE7 cuz IE8 was problematic a year or so ago with Terb.

Are Opera, Chrome or Firefox free downloads?

Woodpeckr, I don't know much about those 'torrent' downloads. Can you post or PM me some background info please?

All those browsers are free downloads.

Opera's built in torrent client works pretty good and is easy to use. All you do is Google whatever you desire with torrent added in the search (ie, Beethoven ode of joy torrent) and it gives you a selection of torrents to pick from. Select whatever one you want, hit download and Opera does all the rest, then tells you when DL in complete. It's that simple.
