Normally I dislike the constant CNN coverage of an "important" event. This time I am having a hard time turning away. God Bless everyone involved in this amazing rescue!

As they send the first rescuer down - some one says "Imagine you're at the beach."
Fark - it would take a hell of alot more than that for me to go down that tube and then wait to come back up!!!

That rescuer has guts, it takes a special breed to do what he's doing, putting his life on the line to say his brothers. This is history in the making.

I sure hope they have a quick shower before they hug their families.
I'm serious here. Love or not it would be dignified for that stench to linger.

Thant's the spirit. they've been a hole for months, their eyes have not seen direct light for so long they will have to come up blindfolded, they have not had a proper diet or health-care for their entire ordeal and they've been crammed in a small area together without privacy or their close friends and relatives for ages.

Certainly a shower is their first priority.

How have they managed to get food and water down to the trapped miners for 2 months?

They've had a small shaft drilled down to them for some time. They have been able to pass food, water, meds, etc down to them. They have also sent warm clothes down - it's alot warmer down there than at the surface.

All the hugs and kisses are nice but won't it slow down the repatriation process if each miner spends an hour hugging his family?

Rock - you are wavering very close to woodie territory - ie totally useless and inane comments. An hour? More like a few moments and the capsule is already on it's way down...

the miners are to be flown to a hospital first, given 48 hours to attempt to readjust, then see their families. Apparently, the hospital ward will be dark, as they have planned a gradual readjustment to light sources,

I saw that one of the trapped miner's family has started a multi-party, multi-million dollar lawsuit against the company for unsafe mining practices.

Then they should leave that miner down there. F'n lawyers at their best. Accidents do happen some times.

The procedural manual has been tossed out the window. The miners' families are crawling all over the escape hole. There is a total loss of crowd control. They are now saying that the rescue process will take 48 hours instead of the previously stated 24 hours.

NPR reported on this earlier today. It is expected that mining Company will be allowed go bankrupt and just walk away, as a means to escape all financial liability for this!....

Actually, they will be wearing Oakley sunglasses. No kidding.
They have been receiving a proper diet , but designed to lose weight so they could fit in that narrow capsule.
Their health has been monitored and meds provided. One of the trapped miners had medical training.
Yeah ,I think they would like a good shower about now.
