Owning vs Renting each has its own "pros and cons". I rent and love it. No property taxes or utilities to pay. No need to renovate anything. Anything that breaks, I call my landlord. Many of my friends are house rich but cash poor. They live pay check to pay check just to pay the mortgage. I know that many may believe that renting is a waste of money, since I don't have any equity, but I have been able to save money while renting, which I know I wouldn't be able to if I had a house and mortgage. Just my two cents.

This is an urban myth.
You really pay all of those things because they ARE INCLUDED IN YOUR RENT only you don't realize it.

Have heard many renters complain about rent increases, only to have the landlord say he is just passing along recent property tax or utility rate increases or some property renovations he did.

Doesn't matter. You don't really own a house until you pay off the mortgage and no HELOC.
Picky, picky, picky.
Most know the difference between renting and owning a home.
Renters will never own the home they live in while those with a mortgage will, once they pay off the mortgage...

Now there you go again with all the negative waves and creating new bogeymen....

LOL, everybody around the world knows this financial contagion is instigated by the Americans left and right. We never have this kind of toxic ideas of securitizing different qualities of debts in one package and sell them like best Bordeaux or Rhone wines to everybody else.

Nope, the GOP Banksters created this stuff in response to the Democrats insistance to have every American entitled to a so-called American dream, a code word for 100% house ownership.

No different for the Democrats as architects designing McMansions with chicken feed budget, while the Republicans are contractors and builders promising everything by cutting corners, taking uncessary risk and charge a premium to hurry up the constructions.

Needless to say when this sub-par/crappy McMansion/super size trailers collapsed both the "architects" and "contractors/builders" pointing fingers to each other, blaming the other fully responsible for the debacle.

Doesn't change the fact the Americans from top to bottom are mostly responsible for putting everybody in this mess.
Can't paint all Americans for the evil work done by Republicans!.....

Hey the Republicans supply thing/stuff the Democrats demand, almost 100% home ownership as living American Dream.
I own my place in the country. Small bungalow with a few acres. Problem, GF says she can't live there, basically house too small. What do I do?
