Dr. Laura one of radio's longest talk show hosts(30 years) got in trouble over the use of the N word with a caller recently. Her defense was that if blacks can use the word why then cannot the rest of society.The word is SUPPOSED to be offensive to the black culture but if THEY are using it whats the problem?ANOTHER case of hypocresy double standards etc.

Wonder how the good Doctor who is Jewish would feel if someone called her KYKE, HEBE etc Again double standards apply.

She was a total bitch. She had no right to call the caller hypersensitive. I thought she was dismissive and her entire tone was condescending and arrogant... The n-word was not the main issue for me.

But it is for getting her fired (and yes she was fired). She has a good point about confusion over the word in terms of confusion on why it is acceptable in some cases and why it is not. But she was too dumb to realize that she could get away with that rant living in the P.C. world of the USA.

I really don't care one way or the other about Dr. L but, there is some merit to her argument about blacks using the 'N' word. Terms like Kyke and Hebe, for the most part, are not used by Jews to refer to one another; therefore, I am not sure your's is a good analogy.

I've only heard the points involved second hand, however, if I've heard them correctly: Her point (valid in my opinion) is why is why isn't it beyond the pale for members of the Black Community to use the term, which they do constantly, when it is beyond the pale for everyone else to use the "N" word?

Sorry I just don't buy the 'but it's different when outsiders use it' argument. If a term is offensive, it is offensive.

Do a study of American history and in particular African American history and you will get an answer as to the evolution and ramifications of using the N. word and the different worlds that it is used in. It would take much more than a bottom feeder like Dr. Laura, to challenge this evolution. She is a wacky idiot and got what she deserved as anyone in main stream media who is not African American knows that playing with this word is suicide in terms of job retention. As an aside, her pic posting then "boyfriend", said that she was "the strongest, wildest piece of ass" that he had ever experienced!

You really don't get it but let me take what she did in context.

She started to use the N word as an example. The black caller told her she was offended. She used the defense of black people use it so it's okay. FOR THE RECORD not all black people use it and are okay with people using it. Once the caller told her she was offended she should have apologized and stated her case. Instead she brushed her aside and used the same excuse of "well black people say it" bullshit.

If they are so hurt then I encourage them to use it. But not behind close doors or behind some computer. If they feel so deprived then use it in public all day every day around everyone. Then deal with the circumstances that comes with it.
