One Terbie said recently that he has "experienced" over 1,000 BBBJ's. Isn't that enough BBBJ's for a lifetime? Just how many BBBJ's does a man need?
I don't know about the big house. You can always sell the big house. Can you sell your SP experiences? I suppose you can write a book about it but is it going to sell? I guess I prefer tangible assets over intangible experiences. How long can you relive that BBBJ?

Yep, freestuff and rockslinger are examples of why so many people are miserable. No matter how much evidence there is, and even with their personal experience which should teach them better, they still think collecting stuff is something other than a complete waste.
Hey, I'm not miserable. We all work so we can have $$$ to buy things -- some are tangible (and necessities: food, shelter, clothing) and some are intangible (but usually luxeries: vacation, SPs). IMHO, you need tangibles before you can enjoy intangibles.
You're exactly right, freestuff. Exactly. The problem is finding the balance between intangible and tangible, between necessities and materialism, and realizing the difference between living and merely existing.

For SCs, in the last number of years, I use 'the Church rate' of 10% of after tax income. It was higher / too high when I was younger. Actually, I probably come in below that now. Since I'm an atheist it seems fair. I'm not terribly into 'things', and I manage to save for the short and long term without any lifestyle tells all while going out frequently. It helps that I rent and take the TTC. A modest life with no vice doesn't strike me as much fun, but a modest life with humble vices strikes me as plenty fun.
Why make prostitutes suffer by making them have sex with a short guy, have some respect. Lepers, burn victims, fatties, brown showers/eating, anything would be better then doing a short dude. Gross. They are people too you know.

You can only sell your house if there is someone to buy it. In the meantime it will be burning your cash to heat it, pay for taxes, maintain it, clean it etc etc etc. Possessions do complicate your life, no question about that. I think articles like this are starting to change our culture and prepare us for leaner years. Frankly I think life would be much better without so much materialism.
PEOPLE like wives, girlfriends and children also complicate your life. In fact, they might even kill you.
