Right about what? I think i proved that his argument does not hold water.K Douglas is right back in post #6 things are not great in Venezuela, and this is almost entirely of Chavez's own doing.

Yeah, ask the Palistinians about that one lol....The US defines democracy as the people FREELY being allowed to vote for a governement that is friendly and amenable to the US.....The US always demands free and democratic elections, however, when the people elect leaders the US disapproves of, the noises out of Washington changes fast.
As long as his 'depends' are in place, it holds water for him!....Right about what? I think i proved that his argument does not hold water.
And Bubah doubtless believes he's proved that pigs can fly.I think i proved that his argument does not hold water.
Have u had enough facts and truths that u will no longer respond to my questions or make sense in ur responses? And Bubah doubtless believes he's proved that pigs can fly.
This guy (Whitney) has some article where he said that the North Korean regime gets a bad rap and that in some ways, the life of the average North Korean is better than an American. Says 'nuff about his credibility. Need to google that one up.You and Mike Whitney really believe this? Make sure you watch out for the Black Helicopters as well as the Haliburton Hurricane Machine!
Would be good, but not likely considering the record of the US in South America.Chaves is only a threat to his own people, I think we should continue the Bush policy and ignore him.
Come on bottie, You know the MIC will NEVER go for that!.....Chaves is only a threat to his own people, I think we should continue the Bush policy and ignore him. Sooner or later his own people will take care of him.

You have not adequately refuted any of my statements. You gave a link about two divergent streams of democracy, neither one Venezuela fits into. And your link to press freedom index confirmed my statement, ranked 124th in world. Nice try.Right about what? I think i proved that his argument does not hold water.
Geopolitics, that neither you nor I or your messiah Chomsky can explain. BTW, this is 2010 not 1971.Would be good, but not likely considering the record of the US in South America.
Tell that to DICK and his paranoid necon pals he deludes with!....Geopolitics, that neither you nor I or your messiah Chomsky can explain. BTW, this is 2010 not 1971.
Nice try? 124th out of 175 is not at the bottom of the press freedom index.... So when u said...And your link to press freedom index confirmed my statement, ranked 124th in world. Nice try.
U are wrong and making misleading statements..... Dont let facts get in the way of ur opinion though.Venezuela ranks near the bottom on the Press Freedom Index.
U are confusing democracy with an economic plutonomy system. For centuries, much of Venezuela's rich farmland has been in the hands of a small elite. I would argue that property rights in this setting were decisive in limiting freedom and democracy.Property rights are an essential element of democracy are they not?
So barely avoiding the bottom quarter, and being solidly in the bottom third makes Venezuela not at the bottom for press freedom, but rather a paragon of light?Nice try? 124th out of 175 is not at the bottom of the press freedom index....
Good to see Denmark coming in as number 1 on the press freedom index. So barely avoiding the bottom quarter, and being solidly in the bottom third makes Venezuela not at the bottom for press freedom, but rather a paragon of light?
Wow, you have never read U.S. criticism of how the press is treated in either Mexico or Turkey? Really?!Venezuela comes in ahead of . . . Mexico. . .and just below Turkey. . . .trusted allies of the USA, and where therefore freedom of the press is unimportant.
I am sorry, but I must have missed the posts where you complained about the lack of freedom for the press in Honduras, Colombia, Mexico, Phillipines and Turkey.Wow, you have never read U.S. criticism of how the press is treated in either Mexico or Turkey? Really?!
Now u chime in.... Did i ever use the term paragon of light? He said it was the bottom according to the press freedom index. Using his very own source of information i just proved that he is wrong and making false and misleading statements. Never mind the fact that RSF’s Press Freedom Index is methodologically and conceptually flawed. RSF’s method means that, at the end of the day, what it gives us is not really a “press freedom index” but a “national perception of press freedom index”. Actually, it’s not even that. Depending on who is asked to fill out the survey, it could really be “national press freedom monitors’ perceptions of press freedom index”. What we can conclude from Venezuela’s low ranking is merely that whoever the respondents are in Venezuela have a worse opinion of their country’s press freedom than 124 other countries’ respondents have of theirs. There are other sources that completely rebut his opinion but i have chosen to use his own source to demonstrate his misleading statements. If he is wrong using his own source i would repudiate his opinions concerning the entire subject. So barely avoiding the bottom quarter, and being solidly in the bottom third makes Venezuela not at the bottom for press freedom, but rather a paragon of light?
Really? Barely escaping being in the bottom quarter is not "at the bottom"?He said it was the bottom according to the press freedom index. Using his very own source of information i just proved that he is wrong .
The common folks love him!Chaves is only a threat to his own people, I think we should continue the Bush policy and ignore him. Sooner or later his own people will take care of him.
