The good life has caught up to him. The commentator hit it when he said Gay wanted it more. It's time to buck up and train a little more, especially between the ears.

One guy said "Wow, when Bolt said it was is off season this year he really means. well this is a listen for the kids, if you fail to prepare, prepare to fail. Bolt was going to parties almost everyday over the past three weeks."

Fair enough that Bolt laxed his training and deserved to lose, however, who currently holds the olympic gold and world record?

That was my question too. What's one race? Is Bolt on record still the fastest?

This thread brought to you by guys who couldn't run 100m in 20 seconds... let alone know what it's like to be the best in the world at anything.

But in this race, he ran his hardest, as he was trailing the leader. With no head wind to blame, he only ran 9.97 seconds, much slower than his 9.58 record. He might be slipping, at least this year he is.

The guy's been winning for 3 years straight, no big deal, he still finished second on an off day, although Powell wasn't racing, probably would have been third.

OMG, he's not invincible after all. Youtube videos are being taken down. But here's one:

Even this link has finally been dropped. When I looked at it, my impression was that Bolt wasn't going full tilt at the end. The photo in this thread probably wasn't taking near the end. Did he quit, was he gased, or was he just beat this day. Only he really knows. He is an amazing athlete, but I 've never thought him a class athlete or one to emulate.

I'm not sure I understand the logic behind this post. Does this mean that nobody should post about a hockey or football player because they can't skate, or throw and catch a football? Should they also not post about Bill Gates or Michael Jackson because they've never run a multi-billion dollar corporation or can't sing?

Just wondering.

It's not at all about being allowed to post, it's simply that I find it pathetic that people who: 1) know nothing about the man personally and 2) haven't a clue about what it takes to be at the very top of any endeavour, let alone elite sprinting; can question the motivations, training, mental toughness, etc., of Usain Bolt. Up until yesterday, the man had been undefeated in over two years, holds every record in the sprints and is actually going back to training for the 400m, his original event (along with the 200m) as a youth. All while with continuing in the 100, 200 and relays.

He finished second in sub-10 seconds and now all of a sudden he's a lazy and mentally weak? (Not to mention questioning his class and what a 24-year old does with his spare time.) WTF is that?! I'm responding to that "logic" with some rhetoric and humour (obviously one would have to be a near corpse not to be able to run 100m in under 20 secs) while holding up the mirror to the haters.

As I've always stated, if one don't like to be called out on what their posts, don't post absolutes, rumour and questionable motivations. I'll post either a counter-point or take a dig at the logic or question what's behind the post. It's called discussion, debate, lively conversation, whatever...

Personally, I think Usain Bolt losing is great for sprinting - it makes the sport more compelling and will force Bolt to up his game, which just means more records. He's the most amazing natural sprinter that I've ever seen and has a charisma / natural showmanship that helps bring the sport to the mainstream.

Christ at this level the littlest thing could cost you any race.

He was bound to get beat at some point in time the only question was when it was going to happen.

I agree. When one is on top and ranked #1 in any sport, there are always lots of people that will be extra motivated and will train harder in order to defeat him/her.
