So my new neighborhood in the wilds of Vaughan is populated by lots of couples, old and young. Since it's warm and the evenings are nice lots of them are walking around, some have kids some don't. I notice that none of them hold hands. I've never been married so I don't know if once you're married that stops happening but when I was a couple less than a year ago I held hands when I walked around with my SO.

Is it no longer cool to do that? and when did it become uncool? I thought it was a perk of being a couple that little bit of hand intimacy.

it's a form of affection. i don't think it was ever cool or uncool to begin with. however, depending on who you are holding hands with, that might dictate if it's cool or not.

Isn't there a bylaw against handholding in Vaughan? That's what I heard. ;-)

I've never been married either and I hear the blowjobs stop too!! That's why the bride is smiling at the wedding. She's thinking "no more blowjobs."
So you've never been married. Then which bride are giving you this incite into their thoughts?

There is an elderly "wide bodied" couple in our neighbourhood who always hold hands when they take long slow leisurely walks on our NARROW sidewalks. Everybody behind them has to walk on the road or on other people's lawns to get around these two slow moving wide bodies. They act like they are the only two people in the world on our sidewalks.

Didn't you bring this up not too long ago. Maybe the city should make some money off the, Make them wear black and yellow tape across their backsides and a sign that says this couple makes wide turns. Charge them for the signage of course.

You could be right. I noticed some people holding hands in Richmond Hill on my way home today but no one North of Bathurst.

If they allowed MPs up here I'm sure there would be more hand holding in the general populace. Trickle down effect.

On a bigger sidewalk that would be kind of romantic but on a narrow one I can see why it be annoying.

Generally a really busy sidewalk isn't conducive to hand holding as you become an obstacle for people to go around, hurdle or be entrapped by.

Not to mention getting mowed down by a maniac cyclist. It is a jungle out there. BTW Has anybody noticed the trend that Sick Kids canvassers have started? Now everybody is out there asking you for money.

Rockslinger is not going to like this lol but I think it is soooo cute to see an "older" couple (in their 70's or more) holding hands. It's sooo sweet to see. It gives me inspiration to know that love can last that long without forgetting the meaning of affection and touch.

But that's just me lol.

Time and place for everything. Slowing down foot traffic when people are rushing home to make supper for the kids is not the time or place.
Awwww Rock, yes I agree there is a time and place for almost everything but hand holding doesn't fall in the time and place category for me...I'm personally aware of what's going on around me, so I would make room, but I'm talking about older older people, they already are slow and can anyone fault an old person for that? lol.

Wanna hold hands and see how it goes? lol.

Hand-holding in Ontario was appropriated by the homosexuals on August 12, 2006. There was no warning and the media kept suspiciously quiet. Dalton MacGuinty said he wouldn't do anything unless the people spoke up.
A few old people still holding hands are the quiet rebellious types who could get violent if you interfered with them so watch your step.
