IMHO, don't move to Waterloo around UW or WLU.
It is cheaper to buy around the schools but for a reason.
It's an unmitigated hassle dealing with thousands of idiot college students all year.

Forest Heights in Kitchener and Westheights in Waterloo are good value for the money with great schools and good transportation links as well as stores and other amenities... need a good real estate agent too?

There is a new middle class neighbourhood on highland and westheights. If anyone knows where alisha Myst does her incalls they know where. Brand new neighborhood. Sweet houses

not sure what kind of money you have but the west side of galt which is in cambridge is one of the nicest neighborhoods around. Beautiful old homes but big price tags.

You can judge a neighbourhood easily on a summer day. Just count the number of fat dudes with no shirts sitting on their front porch. If it's too cold for fat guys to be out there shirtless, then just count the number of shopping carts you see abandoned on the sidewalk.

If the count of either is more than one, don't move within 5 blocks of the place.

No, last time I called Bree told me they weren't going back to Fairview. :(
Yes your right, we will not be going back to Kingsway> Things for the summer will stay low key for us however things are in the works for a location closer to kitchener !

This is the area I live in. Nice and quiet area of town, lots of newer homes and once the shopping centre on Ira Needles opens up, we will be even closer to some great amenities.

When I went to Kittens recently, there was an Apartment for Rent sign in the window of the main foray. Maybe PS can move in beside Jon, and we can also ask A Step Above to move into the building too? Think of the benefits Bree - this idea is brilliant! It won't be a bawdy house anymore, it would be a bawdy building :)

Of the three, Waterloo, Cambridge and Kitchener, which is the nicest?
It really depends on what you're looking for.

Cambridge has lots of haves and lots of have nots - lovely large century homes in Pretson and in Galt, larger homes in newer neighbourhoods around Townline Road and Avenue Road, some unfortunate areas along some of the coridor roads such as Hespeler Road, Coronation near the "Delta" etc. There are some nice middle class areas in Cambridge, Person area around Holiday Inn Drive between Hwy 24 south and townline road gets my vote for services, schools, appeal at the price point and availability of properties) however unless someone else who is a local to Cambridge weighs in I can't be certain as it isn't "my backyard".

Kitchener has some newer development on the fringe of the cities - Hopewell Heights (Breslau area), larger homes out off Homer Watson in Wyldwoods, the eastern boarder near Chicopee has some good options too but isn't too far from an area that I'd avoid (River/Ottawa/Morgan/Kinzie/Thaler, etc.) area as well as in the area of Williamsburg. Personally I'd not choose to live in the Sunrise area as traffic sucks but there are nice homes with some good (very large) elementary schools. In the more developed areas of Kitchener and the western boarder of the city you'll find some nice places too. Forest Heights, Westheights, Highland Hills between Fischer Hallman and Ira Needles - that would be where I'd choose to purchase if I was buying in Kitchener (though the round-abouts may turn you off).

Waterloo has my pick for the place to be. Both the west side (Beechwood(s), Laurelwood, Clair Hills, Westvale as well as Conservation Meadows and Eastbridge are all very nice and the developed and older areas in between (with the exception of right close to the Universities) area all generally very nice and available at a range of price points.

My suggestion is to find yourself a great agent who will take the time to get to know you and your personal preferences and then help guide you to an area that suits all your needs. I am PMing you with the name of a Real Estate agent.

Good luck and welcome to the Region.
