Frankly I was surprised that Lisa LaFlamme got that anchor position. I would have thought that it would go to Sandie Rinaldo, who, IMO, is one of the best news anchors on television. I wonder if it was offered to her and she declined, perferring to continue to the weekend news and weekday coverage on CTV Newsnet.

I agree Sandie is good, but hard to pick between the two for me, both excellent choices. Perhaps LLM has more field experience which may give more credibility to the position, but who knows. I'm ok with either at the desk.
Sandie Rinaldo has more experience than LLF (LLF is out on the field more cuz she's simply younger - Sandie has paid her dues) and would've been the logical choice but like someone said, she probably wants to spend more time home with family.

According to her interview with RD&M she is married and has four children, some of which are teenagers.
