Go to 7-eleven and pay cash for the phone and some more cash for airtime. Call and activate it from some line, take out the phone and you're set. Anonymous and untraceable.

wouldn't it be easier getting another sim card? Perhaps pay-as-you-go, it is easier to hide.

It might be a hassle switching sims but indeed easier to hide.

I want one of these phones just because it's untraceable :) I would want to hide it somewhere out in the elements like some sort of espionage/ bond thing! Lol

Explaining a second phone is *really hard*. A second sim is better.

Actually, I bought one of those 2 sim iphone clones back in the spring. Never used that feature but it looks great. You turn the phone on, it asks which sim to use, then you are off. I never used it as a phone and would be willing to sell it since I ended up buying a itouch for my mp3's.

Just make CERTAIN you know which sim is in play when you use it.

I think it is more of a hassle to explain a second phone to the wife. A pay-as-go sim gives you want you need for discretion and is easier to hide. I know I can pop a sim card in and out of my phone in a matter of seconds.

Technically, it may be registered with the original provider. I bought a cheap RAZR from Future shop and got it unlocked. So far, I have slipped SIMs from T-mobile, FIDO, Rogers and 7-11 (speak out) w/o hassle. The T-mobile and 7-11 SIMs did not require any identification. I never had to enter any IMEIs...

the hobby needs more capitalism
Um. These phones can be traceable. Not by your wife but by law enforcement, the carrier, etc.

It's called cell triangulation and LBS and the standard Wireless Enhanced 911.

Yell at me all you want, but if I wanted to fast and discreet I'd call from a payphone to arrange meeting for an incall and get there on time, same day.

Don't have a problem with LE. As long as it's hidden from the "so".

Anything that's on a public network of the sort is traceable, that includes your internet activities on your laptop. It just depends on the nature of the case at hand that determines whether or not your 'logs' will be come privy to the public (LE, lawyer, etc)

Not sure they can pin point EXACTLY where you are, but they can tell which cell tower your phone is running off of.
Basically they know the general area, but not exactly which house, etc...

Don't they ask to see some identification when you activate the phone or do you just give some bogus name? Or better to activate from a public phone?
