PIN NUMBER REVERSAL (GOOD TO KNOW)
If you should ever be forced by a robber to withdraw money from an ATM machine, you can notify the police by entering your Pin # in reverse.
For example if your pin number is 1234 then you would put in 4321.
The ATM recognizes that your pin number is backwards from the ATM card you placed in the machine
The machine will still give you the money you requested, but unknown to the robber, the police will be immediately dispatched to help you.
This information was recently broadcast on CTV and it states that it is seldom used because people don't know it exists.
I checked with my Bank of Nova Scotia to see if this was correct and staff said yes this information is correct.
Please pass this along to everyone possible

I heard that a long time ago but obviously I've never tried it and hopefully will never have to. BUT....wouldn't the robber be long gone before the cops got there anyway?

Just have your max daily withdraw at $500 and increase through bank when needed! This way the theif is limited to $500 or less.

<sigh> This again? Urban myth, nothing more.

Trust me, the cops are not going to speed to your rescue to save your $100. Cops will say, "hand the money over, file a report" and that will be the end of it.

Don't try that in Mexico: Have you heard of kidnap express? They kidnap you, and bring you to your bank machine each day and withdraw your max until your account is empty. Then they let you go.

God help you if you have $100k in your account and a $500 limit!

People are so gullible, but this is a good thing. Imagine what the world would be like if everyone thought for themselves.
Yeah now that I think about it, it really doesn't make sense. If it were true, they wouldn't want to advertise it so openly (especially on the news) because then a whole ton of people would start trying it just to see if it worked. That would be a huge hassle for the police. I doubt it's true.

Most accounts have weekly withdrawl limits as well. I think my account has a $500 daily limit and $1000 weekly limit.

you have to type in a complete TERB sp review, a good one only including website link but no number rating, then cops will show up at the ATM you are being robbed at.

Now the robbers know.
