Why are police arresting people for no reason? some people seem to have just got caught up in, even journalists getting arrested for no reason.
how come they didnt arrest the idiots from yesterday doing all the damage?

alomst makes me wonder if they are using yesteerdays violence as an excuse to arrest anyone they want for no reason.

its like there are no laws there right now, how come the Charter gets thrown out...is it a Charter free zone right now?
arrested for no reason?
police blocking 200 people in, surrounding them? but yesterday police cars on fire and you dont see cops? seems very strange.

yes the people yesterday were idiots, the people getting arrested today seem like normal people....a little overkill mabey???

Its called loitering. All those people who claim to be onlookers are just a bunch of rubberneckers. Don't you hate those fuckers who slow down on the highway to peek at an accident. They back up traffic for miles and are an inconvenience.

There is no reason to be down there.

They are arresting people for one reason: because they can. The police have to show that their presence was necessary and that the tax dollars funneled into law and security measures were needed. One way of doing is is by increasing the arrest numbers. Policing is an industry like any other, and they have to pad their stats just like other industries.

It's human nature, they prefer easier arrests. They're afraid of tackling the violent ones.

Let me guess Aardvark, you like the part in the song where they sing about pigs!

Old Macdonald had a farm, E-I-E-I-O
And on his farm he had a pig, E-I-E-I-O
With a (snort) here and a (snort) there
Here a (snort) there a (snort)
Everywhere a (snort-snort)
Old Macdonald had a farm, E-I-E-I-O

I've said that before. They probably go a lot of flak from their moron commanders for not controlling the violence yesterday and for the low number of arrests considering all the vandelism. So the shit heads are just arresting everyone to make up the numbers... which will result in lawsuits that they don't have to pay for....

Guess it is easier to surround and detain people who are passively standing around or walking by. Sad stuff.

Forcing people to stand out in the rain for hours should be a crime. Was thinking the police did a generally good job, up until now. This looks really bad on the police. The mayor is to speak shortly.

The police are arresting people because they are known troublemakers, often with outstanding wants or warrants. Just 'cause you don't know the reason doesn't mean there isn't one.

But hey, don't let facts stand in the way of a good troll.

+ 1 from me. The police have severely screwed up on this latest exploit where they have penned in a group of non violent protesters, media and onlookers on Spadina and held them in the pouring rain for some hours for apparently no reason. There seems to be some sporadic attempt by the police to arrest some few individuals who are known to them. But the great majority of the detainees were clearly just in the wrong place at the wrong time doing nothing untoward.

Shamefully, the police have let id carrying media leave, but kept the rest of the people trapped in place.

CP24 is covering the incident and is clearly quite concerned about the police behaviour, within the limits of what can be said on a news program. An official police spokesperson was contacted and gave an unimpressive and uninformative statement in which he claimed not to have any information on what had been already going on for 2 or 3 hours. This was obvious bullshit.

IMHO, this police behaviour is well over the line and I have lost much of my sympathy for the police.

Doesn't jive with the facts as they are unfolding on tv, my friend. Most of the people seem to be innocent.

But hey, don't let your bullshit stand in the way of an unpleasant truth.

It does not seem to be the troublemakers that have been corralled and forced to stand in the rain for hours. The police grabbed everyone in an area and took away the troublemakers. Where are you getting your facts? This has been on CP24 for hours.

No youhaev your information wrong, the crowd detained at queen and spadina, were innocent bystanders. the wanted people and protesters were taken away immediately. the crowd was just released without charges. people are telling their stories of not being invloved and just being rounded up. now people like you are lumping these innocent people in with the violent people from yesterday.
This situation was totally illegal, and some answers are needed. detain 200 people for 5 hours with no access to legal counsel, under arrest for no reason. then all of a sudden let them go.
Violent protesters from yesterday, sure arrest them....normal people walkign around...WTF? Fucking pigs go fuck yourselves.

apparently a supervisor is supposed to talk about this incident, it will be interesting to hear their bullshit response.
please explain why journalists not doing anything wrong were detained? yesterday was a joke because of the violence and vandalism, today is a joke because of the bullshit police tactics. target the right people, not the innocent people
and whatever happend to the Charter of Rights and Freedoms?
i guess they get thrown out for the day.

Presumably the police have probable cause to arrest those that they are. Otherwise they are facing numerious lawsuits for false arrest.
Not the way it looks right now on CP 24. I am guessing you are giving us the benefit of your opinion without viewing what is actually occurring.
