1 of the problems with the "frailty" theory is that the optics of the case are 100% different. This isn't a guy who snuck out to washrooms and propositioned other guys when he was drunk and stressed out. Rekers clearly was familiar with gay websites, surfed them happily and selected playmates for long vacations abroad, apparently with joy, enthusiasm and anticipation. There seems to be no conflict in his private life.

He simply seems to have been a hypocritical scumbag.

Indeed, it is terribly sad. But as much as I try to be emphatic toward someone who is obviously so conflicted about their identity and sexuality, my sympathy and feeling of sadness go primarily towards all those people who were affected by his anti-gay miseducation and lobbying: all those kids who are told that being gay is a sin, that there is something wrong with them for being gay and not being able to be "cured", all those parents who are misled into believing that they can shape their children's sexuality (see pic of book below, authored by Rekers), all those gay people who are denied right and respect because of the campaign of hatred and misinformation directed by people and organizations such as the anti-gay Family Research Council co-founded by Reker's or the National Association for Research & Therapy of Homosexuality which he is also a member of and which claims to "cure" gay people.

And frankly, I stop feeling sad for someone who is obviously so deeply self-loathing when they turn around and make a career and very good money directing their self-hatred toward other people and damaging those people's lives.

No, not at all. It is entirely appropriate to celebrate the embarassment of people who make judgment, exclusion and claims to moral superiority their entire life's work. They sell it, they'd better be buying it, every day, no excuses or exceptions.

Most people don't want to be here rubbing social conservatives BS in their faces when they get exposed. We just want them them to drop the act already - wether it's homosexuality, hetero-promiscuity, porn, hobbying or whatever - just admit that:
a) The Emperor has no clothes
b) The Emperor in fact NEVER had clothes, it was a house of cards from day one
c) You rather like the Emperor with no clothes, and the the Empress too for that matter, so ditch this part of the "values" scam and lets party!
