I'm curious, which hockey players do you respect ?
Where are you going with this ?
I respect most of the players in the NHL. I even like most of them.

Oow, easy there dude. Hate is a strong word, as a friend of mine likes to say. I do not hate the guy, just .... 'do not respect him' I guess fits best.
Hate would be better. Hating would mean your a bitter homer, like most fans feel about its rivals. Not having respect for the player of skill and dedication of Alfie makes you completely ignorant.

Where am I going with this ? I want to know the answer to the question.

You respect most of the players in the NHL, yet you don't respect one of the (perhaps the longest) serving captains of a team (active) . A player who has played his entire career for one team, is very active in the community, has never had a whiff of scandal come near him. The man has won the Calder Trophy in the NHL, been named to numourous All-Star teams, has won Gold at the Olympics and multiple World Championship medals.

Here are a few of his accomplishments:

Is the Senators all-time leader in games played, goals, assists and points.
Holds the Senators record for highest +/- rating in a season, set in 2006–07 with +42.
Holds the Senators record for most points in a regular season game, set in 2007–08 with 3 goals and 4 assists for 7 points.
Holds the following Senators playoff records: most games played (he has played in 101 of the 103 playoff games of the modern Senators), goals, assists and points.
Set the Senators record for most goals in a playoff run with 14 in the 2006–07 playoffs. He also led the league in goals during the 2006–07 playoffs and tied line mates Jason Spezza and Dany Heatley with 22 points to lead the league in playoff scoring.

Finished 3rd in Selke Trophy voting as the best defensive forward in 2005–06.
Finished 4th in Lady Byng Memorial Trophy voting as the NHL's most gentlemanly player in 2005–06.
Finished 2nd in Lady Byng Memorial Trophy voting in 2003–04.

So, great player on the ice, and admired & respected in the community. He and his family are planning to live in Ottawa when his career ends.

You're right, the guy is a bum. (insert sarcastic smilie here)

I'm just curious as to who you do admire.

PNG, do not waste your time on flathead, he needs to be on meds. Very good review of Afie's tenure in the NHL.

So I have no rights any more ? You want to take that away from me because I do not agree with you ?

Geek, Maurice and Lake are afraid of a difference of opinion. It must kill you guys to live in this country where everyone may have his or her own opinion.

Geek, I am not going to list over 90% of the players in the NHL.

As for the player in question I never, not once, said he was not a good player. Anything he has achieved in his career I am sure is well deserved.
You guys like him and think the world of him, I do not.
The fake throwing the stick incident and drilling Tucker(whether you like Tucker or not) from behind are minor details just re-enforce my personal stand.

Geek, Lake and Maurice, do you guys like every player in the NHL ?
Matt Cooke ? Sean Avery ? Dany Heatley ?

I never asked you to list every player that you respect, or like, but name some players please.

No one has said (to my knowledge) that you have to like D.A., or respect him, I just can't find a reason not to like or respect him, and I asked for reasons why you feel so strongly the other way.

As far as the ''fake stick throwing incident'' as you call it, that was funny. Mats Sundin thinks it was absolutely hilarious. If it doesn't bother the individual he was having some fun with, why does it bother you so much ?

As far as checking Tucker, I would ask you to find me one player who has played as long as D.A. has in the NHL and hasn't checked someone from behind, or commited an infraction equally as bad. Alfreddson has a reputation around the league as a classy, tough hockey player. Darcy Tucker (Sideshow Bob) <<so named by his teammates , much less so. Darcy Tucker is Sean Avery 5 years older. You might want to let go of some of your hostility and anger in this matter, it seems misplaced.

No one said you didn't have the right to express your opinion, if you think that, I ask you to show me evidence of suceh a statement. You have the right to disagree with me whenever you want. You also have the right to be incorrect at times. No one is trying to take away those rights or privleges.

I don't respect any of the 3 players you listed above, are those three guys you respect. Those are the only players you mentioned besides D.A. & D.T.

If so, you and I will just have to disagree on what constitutes class & skill in the NHL.

Wow, I post on many and people like you are alike on every one of them.
They just glaze over messages even when you answer their questions and read into other peoples messages whatever they want.
Did you even bother to actually read what I wrote ?

The stick thing by itself is nothing, and the Tucker HFB is like you say something that many players do.
The fact that it is Tucker or a Leaf even has little to do with it. I mentioned it because he hit another NHL player from behind, but again that is not the reason I do not care for the Ottawa Captain.

The three players I mentioned were just three players I figured people on this forum would have strong opinions about.
No I do not care for Avery or Cooke at all.
Heatley is a different matter.

Players I like/respect (just to name a few)
Crosby
The Staals
Winnik
Bolland
Iginla

Senators such as ...
Fisher
Volchenkov
Elliot

Habs arent going to make it past the Penquins, halak got lucky in the series against Washington, he had 2 good games, once they get beat out this year, halak will be a nothing again. As a Leafs fan id never cheer for Montreal, so im hoping for Chicago to do some damage, they are a good young and exciting team.

I swear Les Habs are a team with a split personality.

Are they the team we saw get dominated in the second period or are they the team that out hustled Pitt in the third.

On the one hand they appeared to the victim of some questionable calls by the refs but they were the recipients of some less than stellar goals.

Washington in 4.
Washington in 5.
Washington in 6.
Washington in 7.

Pittsburg in 4.
Pittsburg in 5.

I guess it's Pittsburg in 6 now right?

The Pens got Halak'd.
Dude seriously I'm cheering for the Habs as much as anyone but if your going to come on here at least try to give some commentary on the games we're seeing.

Your just rubbing the hab haters noses in it.

Remember that can be a two way street.

And if I was a betting man I wouldn't bet against Pitt and Crosby breaking out big time fairly soon.
