So I'm pretty much all gray hair colour, has anyone tried that Just For Men hair colouring shampoo? Does it work? How does it work? If I use it, does it colour all the gray or just parts of it? Or is it for the guys who are just starting to go gray, with only a few hairs that need hiding? Anyone Know? don't want to try it and come out looking too stupid, LMAO.

I went to school for hairstyling and to be honest if you have more then 50% grey you need an intensive hair colour that you can only really get from a professional salon. I do not suggest you use any at home hair colouring products cause more then likely you will still have grey and that will just be a waste of money and time ;) hope that helps

Good to see you back Moet! Yes that does help. Was just curious as to what would happen. Not sure if I want to try anything or not.

The word from my hairdresser friends, when I had hair, was stay away. Lots of metals in it. Not good stuff. In the same league as Head&Shoulder Shampoo.

According to Dr. Joe Schwarcz ( science radio show CFRB, Sundays 3 to 4 PM ) todays hair coloring does not contain metals like the old stuff. Grecian formula use to contain lead.

I buy whatever big name brand ( the womens stuff is the same stuff as the guy stuff ) that is on sale and follow the instructions to mix, but I use a comb to comb it in. I can make one kit last 5 times, as I do not use the whole box, combing it into the sides does not use up much.

When mixing the hair color, it works best if you keep the product warm. I warm a metal containers with hot water and mix the coloring it the container while i am holding it in a sink of warm water.

Gray is a badge of honor.

Your call when it comes to shying away from it.

i've tried natural instincts for women. its pretty good , goes on 10- minutes and it fades slowly. One box gives me three shots, looks very natural.

I took the plunge and started colouring my hair about 2 years ago . I get it done professionally and would highly recommend it. I was really surprised at how few people noticed what I had changed - I was really paranoid when I first had it done, now its just part of the routine. I didn't have the nerve to experiment with the at home solutions, even though I think that would be a much easier way to deal with it.

You might want to try the route I took...shave your head. I haven't had a grey hair on my head since I started shaving it....Now if there was only something I could do about my grey beard and chest hair I'd be alright.

I've used just for men and it works very well. You have to be careful not to spill any as it can stain surfaces easily .

I have mostly grey the first 2.5 inches above the ears. I use Herbatint on it once a month.

Pro's:
All the big name brands I tried prduced a stong chemical smell which gave me nauses, headaches and temporary rashes. I haven't had such problems with Herbatint. Plus the colour (supposedly vegetable based) and developer come in separate, re-sealable bottles, so I'm not commited to use the entire amound wgen I only need about 1/5 bottle for each application. Doesn't hurt that I found an excellent match. The colour is true under every type of light (whereas some of the dark browns of the leading brands have a purple sheen under flourescent light)

Cons:
Doesn't last as long as the more toxic stuff. Starts to fade after 3 weeks and is washed out by the 5th week - though perhaps someone with a less oily scalp & roots might get a deaper dye. Also takes longer, needs to be left on for 40 minutes to really take well. Herbatint would also be expensive for someone with lots of hair to do - they sell for between $13.99 - $16.99 a box - great deal for me because I get 4 or 5 applications per box, but a person covering a full head of greay would only get 2 or 3 applications at most.

What you do to feel good is your business, but if you want to make an impression on other people, get a pro to do your colour. And be prepared to shop, not every hair dresser has the talent to blend and mix shades, shadows and highlights to make your dye job look real and attractive.

But really, dye is dye; it doesn't care whether the packaging says "For Men".

My buddy tried using Grecian Formula, and said apart from doing a nice job of regulating his natural color, it was the best hair dressing product he had ever used, making his hair very smooth and controllable.

Might be a good first thing to try, if you haven't tried or currently use, any rinses, or other coloring products. It only works on natural gray hair, not color-rinsed, or dyed hair that is starting to gray again by fading
Otherwise, you'll have to wait till your hair goes totally gray again, or grows out.

I use Clairol Men's Choice, every five or six weeks. (A rinse) Very natural looking results.
And I split each of the two bottles into two equal portions, which save dough. (I have short hair, so the bottles can go twice as far.) Price per box at Wally - about eight bucks.

A hairdresser lighten my hair colour to dirty blond from just dark brown before I went grey. I thought she was just doing highlights so I was upset initially but my girl friend at the time and my friends loved it. I haven't changed it since but it has definitely improved the age and quality of women I have dated. If you are looking to be a nice father figure with the girls - I guess grey is OK.

As long as you have enough sugar, the girls on Terb generally don't care one way or the other.

Yeah but I have so little sugar that even cockroaches don't bother visiting. I consider the amount of grey I have at least 10 years premature, plus a lot of th work I'm looking for is really associated with younger people, so you show with enough grey to make you look mid-late 40's and people probably assume you must be starting over after being institutionalized or something.
