Way I figure it is if you have to buy a bride you need to rethink your life and needs.

BTW people who buy brides are likely gay.
Since Canada permits gay marriage, you guys aren't stuck with ordering female brides any more.

Unless she has a bf closer to her age that she will be sponsoring once she gets her paper work done.
Exactly.

I am aware of one case, friend of a friend sort of situation, where dude gets a mail order bride, she is a pretty good actress, persuades him that they are soul mates, made him feel special, etc., keeps up the act until she gets her PR card, then ditches him, takes half his money, and eventually brings her boyfriend over from the old country.

In the end the guy committed suicide. He had believed all her bullshit to the point where he didn't believe he needed a prenup and he had planned his life around her. When he found out he'd lost half his savings along with all his self respect, that he'd been played as a fool from the get go, that everything he believed and valued was all a lie, he just couldn't handle it.

Don't underestimate how far people in impoverished countries will go to get a better life for them and their children. Don't assume they intend that to mean YOUR children.

I'm planning to do the reverse.

Actually that is one way of "telling the sheep from the goats." If she is perfectly happy with the idea of living in either place with you, it probably means she's interested in you. If on the other hand she is only interested in living in the West. . . .

This is not a guarantee that the marriage will work but at least it means that there is a foundation for it to work.

sorry but I disagree
let's say she perceives you as a confident guy who is not poor, and this is what she is looking for. She then may well be prepared to live with you anywhere. Living close to her family may well be convenient for her. What happens when in Cnanada she meets somebody who fits the description even better, is another story.

Similarly, I can see how a girl wants to move to the West to get better life for her and the kids, and it may well be an honest intention.
After all, I can move to Cuba and live as a king, but am I gonna be giving my kids a good start in their life? Unlikely.

I find it surprising that otherwise bright people go to these third world countries and think that somehow all these young girls suddenly are in love with them. Thinking that the culture is somehow different and these young girls like old balding men that can’t speak the same language.

We all view this through certain lenses. I tend to view it from the perspective of Eastern Europe. Therefore I don't claim that there are no exceptions to what I've posted. However, in the main I believe them to be true.

My experience is with Eastern Europe. I know many E.E. - Western Couples that are very happy married and have an age gap of a decade or two. The best quote on the matter I know of is that you want people to say 'what a lucky guy,' rather than 'Good God, I thought she was his daughter'. You are right that being able to speak the language to a greater or lesser degree does indeed typically make a difference.

One needs to learn to pay attention to "red flags", there are indeed "visa whores" out there, then again there are indeed women who would very much like to meet a loving husband, and particularly one who will love their young child as his own, rather than as a cuckoo in the nest.

It's amazing isn't it. Below is an example of such a person:

If you're going to get a mail order bride, get a relatively ugly one. Nothing is certain, but it increases the odds that she will stick around after she gets her Visa.

EE or not, golddiggers are at least as much inclined to not live home than to emigrate. The test of "lets live in EE together" will show nothing about her true intentions [to leave you if something better comes along].

Yes, and no. It will tend to show if her desire is entirely to get out of her own country.

Needless to say it will not show you the content of her heart.

La la land
my main question is, If she wanted to leave the person that sponsor her, is that person still responsible to support her or is she expected to provide for herself?

thanks for the link Hesitant. gonna check it out.
Yes.
LAst I heard the guy has to sponsor her for 10 YEARS. So she won't go on welfare/social assisstance.
I have met 5 guys with different scenarious.
Most are not happy.

CDN guy finds:
1. Mexican wife didn't like cold she went back. CDN husband visits every year for 4 weeks. Now he visits for the winter. He has house there.
2. Mexican wife didn't like cold she went back. CDN husband visits every year, saw some pants that are not his.
3. Guatemala wife met her there, never brought her here, and enjoys it every moment. Suspect she had BF.
4. Mexican woman before deportation marries a slow guy, Parents of guy build them house on their farm property. Still happy with no kids and visits Mexico every year.
5. CDN man visits Vietnam with Viet friend falls for girl. Goes back with buddy again, while he romances girl, buddy gets killed, locals didn't like idea of foreigner taking their woman. CDN after year brings girl here. Last I hear is happy.

6. Ecuador woman brought over to meet guy never was happy with man from start but wanted to stay. 10 years later she divorces and goes back with kid and alimony.
