I immigrated here in 2001. My wife was (is) responsible for me for 10 years. We should get a rebate for time served since they shortened it to 3 years .... LOL
Not for quite a few years. And immigration fraud isn't a defence to sponsorship financial obligations, even in theory, in this country. The federal government perceives the obligation as absolute. There is a case on this issue currently before the Supreme Court of Canada.
I suspect that responsibility for the welfare that she can collect [in less three years] may well pale in comparison with a potential spousal support claim based among other things on her inability to continue her successful career in her home country, plus equalization of property, plus potential child support if God blesses you with children or she brought some over and you end up in a loco parentis situation.

Spousal support would probably be capped at a year or so with a short marriage. You are not on the hook for her entire allegedly screwed up life. Monthly spousal support varies depending on your income. Could be more than $500 per month. Equalization will not be full 50% in a short marriage (less than 5 years) and may well be nominal.
Child support is a potential disaster. Could be 20 years if you bring over a toddler or baby.
