I agree! Mrs. CG has one too, on her lower back similar to this:

It is her name in Chinese characters... (yes it has been checked to be sure. LOL)

While tending bar, it occasionally become visible while she's reaching up or bending over, and the "cool" guys all try and start a conversation like: "Hey gorgeous, what's your tattoo mean?" To which she replies "Happily Married!" LOL
You sure she doesn't reply '' available when my husband is on escort review boards''.

couldn't help myself.

Are you sure it doesn't read "Available to asian men"? Maybe the tattoo artist had a laugh at your expense :)

Maybe it really says, "Available to asian men, pretend this is her name"

Positive... You forget... I have lots of Chinese contacts... It has been checked and recheck a number of times...

I'm with Keebler on this one. A congee tattoo basically says "hey, I am worldly and wise even though I grew up in the suburbs and stayed there but I watched a lot of travel shows on TV so I know what exotic is!"

Nothing says myopic view of the world louder than a tattoo of something you got at a mall.

way out in left field
Is it true that until quite recently, the only Chinese, Japanese and Koreans who got tatoos were gangsters and escorts?
well, and someone can correct me, but each has their own particular tatoos that signify their standing. This applies to japanese too (I think japanese gangstas are triads?) Chinese and Tongs.....something like that.

I'm oriental and can read the symbols. I seen a few tats on girls, one on the lower back and pretty big, the meaning was Horse. I not sure why anybody would want horse on them. I've seen others, where the meaning is ugly, or bitch lol.
You're Asian but you can't understand why anyone would have Horse on them???
Come one! You should know automatically, when you see horse or other animals, what that means. Pretty common.
What year were you born? Get it now

Plus, when is there a rule of what tattoo and in what language you have to get it in?
That's like saying if you're a Asian, why you speak English and not Chinese. And replying, well you're in Canada, so you speak English. Shit like that can go keep going round and 'round man

If you goto Asia and see a regular looking guy with a horse or other 'fun' harmless looking tats, he's probably just another regular joe. But if you see some mean looking dude walking around with 1 of those full body tats, espeically ones with dragons and/or shit like that, then yes, you might want to not start anything with him lol

lol....

pretty much guys with dragons, tigers (any type of aggresive animals) and roses,
you don't want to screw around with them...

Lot of places in Korea ban people with tatoo's e.g public swimming pools, saunas etc...

Sure it might look kinda of cool and the person doing the tattoo tells you what it means or at least that's what they think it means.

How do you know they are not Chinese?

The pg13 answer is, she was born in the year of the Horse. The perverted answer is, she really likes horses, and by like, i mean LIKE.

Japanese gangsters are called "yakuza". And indeed the members of the yakuza (or wives and/or mistresses of known yakuza) are renowned for their intricate, full body tattoos, often of images of dragons, warriors and such. In the past, tattooing in Japan was strictly associated with the yakuza (especially lower ranked yakuza known as "chinpera"), but tattooing has become more acceptable to the general public.

I'm not certain about tattooing in Chinese or Korean societies. It's possible that the Chinese triads may have their own special tattoos indicating status.

Because a tattoo has a personal meaning, regardless if it says what the person thinks it says or not. The meaning and reason the person chose to get it tattooed on them have some significance.

Although I always wonder what exactly I have tattooed on my back, I at least know what it means to me. LOL
Good point lust! That says it all!

that blonde need to ask these folks how they fit in
The blonde wasn't being nasty and there is a tiny Western community in Tokyo but she did find it difficult to live in a country surrounded by Japanese. Also, being blonde and blue eyed meant she could never be inconspicuous. Try this sometime. Get on a Toronto bus in the morning and ask the driver to speak to you only in Japanese. Then when you get to the office, ask the staff to speak to you only in Japanese. When you go for lunch, ask the waitress to speak to you only in Japanese. When you go shopping after work, ask the shopkeeper to speak to you only in Japanese. When you get home at night, watch the baseball game with the announcer speaking only in Japanese.
