I appreciate the recommendation, as my favourite chinese restaurant closed up shop. But I am puzzled as what criteria terbites use to evaluate restaurants. So I did a search on this particular one and came up with these reviews. They are all extremely positive. I've edited them all together:
Far too many of my nights have ended at New Ho King, and so my review might be based on blurred judgments. Either way, I like this place, and it's always fun at 3 or even 4 AM. (Summary at the end if you want to skip details on items.)
I used to be addicted to Ho-Lee-Chow and when I recently found out they were shut down I went into a fit of severe depression as Chinese-food-withdrawl set in.... even though Ho-Lee-Chow was the McDonalds of Chinese food.
But then a co-worker kept saying "Oh man, I was so drunk last night, but that sweet and spicy beef at 5am saved my life", because apparently these folks are open at ungodly hours.
This is the place to eat for late night greasy Chinese food.
Just seeing the sign of the restaurant makes me want to cry greasy tears of drunken nostalgia. Im sure it comes as no surprise to any of you that i have a very spotty memory about my college years, but of the memories that do remain, about 50% of them incorporate either eating at New Ho King or getting delivery from New Ho King.
No joke, i have seriously had dreams that i was back at this place crammed into the little table next to the filthy aquariums spilling piles of rice all over myself while drunkenly trying to figure out what i was doing with my life.
Wow! Thanks for the tip. Sounds like a real classy joint. This isn't the first time we've had a thread about chinese food downtown. Can someone tell me what it is about a request for chinese and downtown that suggests that one is looking for greasy food at 4 am in a drunken stupor?
Try crispy beef at http://www.szechuanszechuan.com/ and thank me later. They have free delivery in DT. It is a bit expensive than your cheap chinese take-outs but worth every penny.
