lol, Woodpeckr is right, you obvously weren't around in the 60's, you had to experience what the youth was going through in those times, his music represented a movement of change. His lyrics do make sense but if you weren't around then, I can see why it wouldn't make sense to you, or any other younger person today.
Anyways, almost any song makes sense on LSD or peyote buttons.

I was born in 1970..... and every one of his (that i've heard) make sense to me.... but again.... my CD player currently has Pink Floyd, Rush, Neil Young, and 2 of my kids CD's....

Dylan was such great song writer... there were artists in the 60's just chompin at the bit waiting for his next album so they could do a cover of his tunes...

cheers!

I love the classics, but my favourites have always been "Don't think twice, it's alright", "The Lonesome Death of Hattie Carroll" and, in first place, "Sad-Eyed Lady of the Lowlands". LOVE that song!!!!! And... "When the Ship comes in". Amazing. And yes, Young Dylan was really sexy. It's the poet-factor...

I believe it is intended to be a Springsteen parody...

Yeah.... Hendrix hit that one out of the park.... The absolute bench mark for covers.

Cheers!

I agree whole heartedly. As a matter of fact I find Dylan's voice so irritating that I cannot listen to it. If he comes on the radio the station gets changed immediately. I do like his writing though.

As usual, we're on the same wavelenght, Suzy. The songs from "Desire" and "Blood on the Tracks" are among my faves... Though the one that allways makes me think of Bob is "The Times They are a Changin'".... since he changed the times himself-- more than once! Hmm... but then there's Watchtower, Hurricane Carter, Hard Rain, Slow Train.... Maybe a top 10 would be better.

No question, Like A Rolling Stone at 5:55 min. long. At a time when most songs were only 2:30-3:00 min. long to be played on radio, this was one that broke the mold and was more often than not the slow song that closed many dances at HS.
