Is it just me or is there way too much curling at these olympics? Every time I have time to watch some olympics it seems to be the damn curling.

Its been going on longer than any other sport so far and still going!!!!!!!!!!!

By far the most boring 'sport' if you can even call it that. Its more like lawn bowling hobby for unathletic people.

They should cut down the amount of games they play or just throw it out of the olympics all together. Only sports that require some form of athleticism should be allowed in the olympics.

We get a lot of curling because we are gold medal favorites. Otherwise we wouldn't see a whole lot of it.

Have you ever tried curling? It requires more athleticism than you think.

No I havent tried curling but Ive tried sweeping my garage floor with a broom stick before. It was tedious, but I would hardly call it athletically demanding. But then again, I'm not a professional janitor and don't know the proper technique to sweeping floors.

I took it in High school for phys.ed and thought the same way you do now, until I arrived at the rink for lessons and man I was surprised, it requires balance, great eye hand co-ordination. Brushing is harder than sweeping floors, you have to press down hard while keeping your balance on the ice. A number of students keep falling on the ice while brushing. The skip requires fine motor skills like golf and yet golf is considered a sport.

I've never tried Curling but I've enjoyed watching it during the Olympics. There have been some good matches with great shots. The networks have covered every sport of the games on tv so the OP must have just had bad luck when turning in.

Obviously some people have never tried to watch golf or soccer on TV.

CTV, TSN and SportsNet have been going 24 hours covering everything at the Olympics, add to that some other channels brought in when there are too many things for the three main channels. Along the lines of a previous suggestion, is your remote broken or is it too much for you to lift it and press the buttons ?

yeah sure. 12 oz beer curls. lol... I'm from the Soo... I know exactly what athleticism is involved in curling. core muscles = beer digestion. Those Howard's and Harnden's drink obscene amounts of alcohol up there...

Frankly I'm enjoying watching the half-curler, half-cougar Cheryl Bernard. The Curlgar! as Bill Simmons said:

I find Cheryl Bernard very attractive.
The Swiss third(?) was attractive also, could have been the second. She was the one with long black hair.

By the way, there's 6 month prego lady in Canadian curling team.. do you think she should be competing?
Why shouldn't she? It's not like pregnancy is a contagious illness.

She is, but she's couldn't close the game out for a gold medal. WTF Happened? Dean Blundell has her on his to-do list.

I think that curling is more of a recreational activity than a sport, but I find it more interesting to watch than women's hockey.

You've obviously never played it or you wouldn't make those statements. It requires strength, stamina, and good hand eye coordination to play the game at a competitive level. Then the skill really kicks in when more often than not the team that reads the ice first then the changes in ice as the game progresses is the one one that wins. Try a couple of games in a day (in some spiels, you'll play three a day) and see if you feel that it's not a sport. Your hands will blister and calluses will break, you thighs, shoulders and forearms will burns and your hips and knees will hurt tomorrow, guaranteed. It's a sport all right.
