No it won't hurt Canada's chances of winning the gold. After the round robin games all the 12 teams are seeded 1 to 12. The top 4 teams get a bye to the quarter finals. The reaming 8 teams will play a 1 game playoff to qualify for quarter finals. 5.vs12, 6.vs.11, 7.vs.10, 8vs.9. Ideally it's best for Canada to get a bye to quarter finals. So they can get a short break and some more practice time.

No it's not over. The new tournament format is forgiving. Even if you finish dead last (12th) you still have chance to make to the quarter finals.

If there wasn't a salary cap in the NHL I am sure Berke would have the entire USA Olmpic hockey team playing for the Leafs. The Swiss National team would be dead last in the NHL.

At least we, Canada, won our shootout. Russia lost to Slovakia when Pavol Demitra, the seventh shooter, scored after Malkin was denied by Halak.

At least Russia lost to a team with some NHL players and to a guy like Demitra, who has over 300 NHL goals. Olympic gold is not a given... I'm nervious as heck. We have the most talented team but this one-and-done is brutal. Opposing goalie gets hot and Marty gives up a fluke and next thing you know...
