Was the omission of Ontario (just a third of Canada) deliberate?
Yes it was.

The Pan Am games do not have the same clout, however we will put BC front and center as part of Canada. Just to let them know that pettiness is not becoming of Ontario.

I only care if we get the gold metal in hockey..this will get us an A+ olympics...this is not an easy event to pull off without any hicups..so chill off bro..
I agree 100%
I personally do not give a rats ass about all the pageantry and hoopla associated with the games opening or closing games.
Its all fluff
3-4 hours of watching people wave & then wait for someone to light a fire?????
The best fires lightings I ever attended always had a 24 of Canadian and a bunch of drunken teenage hotties standing around it

The only reason I watched the opening ceremonies at all was because I could not find a hockey game broadcast

The whales were interesting... other than that, the ceremony itself was largely forgettable.

But when the Georgian athletes came out, it was absolutely heartbreaking.

We looked at it for 5 minutes and turned it off. Complete snoozefest. Ended up watching the NBA rookie/sophomore game instead.

The reason Ontario wasn't mentioned is because nobody gives a shit about Ontario, except people from Ontario.

The reason for that is because for the most part Ontario is filled with whinny little bitches such as yourself.

Just to let them know that pettiness is not becoming of Ontario.
No, it doesn't sound like it.

NOt only did they do an absolutely amazing job last night...... I would sleep with KD Lang to hear her sing like that again. I had no idea she had that kind of range.

I'll admit, the end was a bit hairy with the 4th column, but overall, they did us proud. The ceremonies were fucking spectacular.

Cheers!

I'm not so sure the mechanical problem at the end will be the defining moment of the ceremony. I enjoyed it overall, a lot more than expected and my thoughts this morning had nothing to do with the ending. I know for a fact the 4th tower will be forgotten by me before the games are over.

I do think the practice of not letting competitors have access to practice at the facilities will be a defining moment. Yes, it's common practice but the luge course is regarded as so fast as to be dangerous. One of the coaches sort of predicted the tragedy saying "We hope there are no serious accidents". And the fact that Canadian sledders are the only ones NOT crashing during practices because they had mostly unlimited access doesn't put things in a good light. Home field advantage is one thing, but when it leads to death it is not good sportsmanship.

Are you desperately looking for it all the time? Is that why you post on a board about The Great Satan (Toronto), you must be needy for attention.

All the same, great sig pic.

Huge debt equals fail

I mean they already had everything built in Calgary so why not have some of the events there

No, gotta have it all in one city because, well, just because

The last payment on the 1976 Montreal Olympics was made in 2006.

Beijing needs to figure out what to do with the crap from 2008.

Gotta hand it to Lake Placid. Hosted the Olympics twice, and can be used as a training facility.

i would have rather seen this guy over the dude that gave his stupid speech last night.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BRI-A3vakVg

the killer whales were awesome but that only lasted 5 seconds while peter pan and his wheat farm seemed to last an eternity.

don't blame the anthem singer. she was on tv this morning saying she sang it the way the organizers wanted it sung.

glad that the entire world now thinks canada is a bunch of redneck violinists.

felt bad for catriona lemay doan. she looked amazing last night.

The section with all maple leaves being moved around was ok, the wheat fields started out ok but went on far too long. Most of the rest of it was a bore. Too bad it could have been much more.

The slush olympics. Was failure ever in doubt? Cypress... what a dumb choice. They should have had all snow events at Whistler.

I was disappointed. I thought it started off well with the polar bear and the whales on the stadium floor. Then it just fell apart from there. I did like the Canaidan poet guy, I thought his poem was great, without the associated beer commercial.

The flame lighting was a complete disappointment, it was such a great opportunity wasted.
