Dr Oz did a show on beg bugs. The were almost gone for North America completely, but have made a return with the new global jet setters. They get in your luggage, then your home.
Bed Bugs only come out in the dark, usually when your sleeping. they are attracted to your body heat, and hide again at first site of light. They usually leave bite marks in sets of 3 (Breakfast, lunch, and dinner). Many ppl will are not familiar with beg bugs and associate the bites as rash, spiders bites, fleas, or something else.
Bed bugs can often be found behind pictures, under the mattresses or beds, behind mounted headboards, under the night stand, under drawers in the night stand... Places that are dark, and not accessed by ppl often, if ever.

Next time your in a hotel/motel, have a quick peek at the mattress, behind pictures on the wall, take out a drawer and look under it....
cheers!
